tvandmoviecars Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 does anyone make a stock hood for this? Or factory stock decals? We had 1 when I was a kid, and would love to replicate it. also what would be a good donor kit for seats, etc.. it's probably just going to be a curbside.... is a maverick the same inside? I ask because my uncle owns a real one, and I have easy access to it, for reference, if so.
Casey Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The two are very similar, being siblings in the 1:1 world, but there are some differences. I think Jeff at Motor City Resin Casters Kevin @ Missing Link offers a Maverick Grabber hood, but I don't know if anybody has mastered and cast a flat hood. If you haven't searched the web for Juha Airio's Mercury Comet GT, do so. It's well worth looking at.
Rob Hall Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Best Resin used to cast a flat Comet hood, but they've been out of business probably 5 years or more. Missing Link resin makes a very nice resin '71 Maverick Grabber kit and has the hood available individually. I got an interior tub w/ the back seat from ML a while back to use on one of my Comets, but would like to find a stock flat hood also..
Art Anderson Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Here's the Missing Link Maverick Grabber resin kit that I reviewed in MCM: This is one VERY nicely done resin kit--I am certain that once built, one will never guess that it's a resin kit! Art
kevin Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 i used to cast the hood...i will see if i can dig up the mold again
tvandmoviecars Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 i used to cast the hood...i will see if i can dig up the mold again thanks.. when I seen your ID and location.. thought you were my cousin's hubby.. but then seen your name!<LOL>
thatz4u Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Comet & Maverick hoods are 2 completely different styles, use the Comet hood & fill the hole with sheet styrene...
kevin Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 i do know they are different..currently i cast a complete grabber maverick & that hood is also different from the kit version. Kevin
Art Anderson Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 i do know they are different..currently i cast a complete grabber maverick & that hood is also different from the kit version. Kevin And, if I might add, this one is JoHan kit quality--it IS that nice. So, Kevin, take a bow please! Art
Elliot949 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I think it is Kieth Marks that does/ did the Comet GT stripes...
catpack68 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 bandit resin makes a stock interior tub/seats for the johan comet/maverick kit and keith marks makes the decals
kevin Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 my interior will also work plus i have the front bench seats molded seperately
grt222 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Does missing link sell the body separate? wanted one for a short track project.
kevin Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 although i do have a master & intend to cast the complete kit (factory stock) we have not gotten that far yet
grt222 Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I should have added that i need a body and hood only for the maverick, not the comet. Does missing link sell the body and hood separate for the maverick? thanks
