  1. Most know about using emery boards for sanding... Today I was in DOLLAR TREE (Everything is MAX $1!),and they had 36 Emery boards in 5 different sizes for $1. Range from very thin ones to regular size.. I used the smallest one just today to sand the pillar between the front doors and back side windows, and the C pillars on the AMT 75 Chevy Blazer, and it was PERFECT size.
  2. LIFE HAS KINDA GOTTEN IN THE WAY OF BUILDING LATELY... <LOL> Got a new job a month ago, that included a move.... tonight I pulled out the Rolls at the new place, and about to do some work on this very primitive kit... I know either my old one, or the re-release had some seriously warped parts.. guess I will know as soon as I open the box.. if it is the old one!<LOL>
  3. interesting idea.... I have a old Johan kit that has parts modled in DIFFERENT colors.... that could be interestng!<LOL>
  4. Bought a model once at a yard sale for 50 cents.... nothing great.. just a fiero, but for 50 cents... figured "what the heck".. noticed it was kinda "heavy" after I got it n the car... opened it up... and it had a fair amount of parts.... but the kit was GONE... but, it was all good.. the "extra weight".... was a bunch of almost full bottles of model paints.... that were selling at that time for about 75 cents each!<LOL>
  5. Miss a few I used to have... 2 Mustang IIs.. 1 was my 1st car... 1 didnt have a motor, and other blew the motor... Had a Nova in High School that I wished I could find again.. if it still exists.... probably doesnt, since I sold it to a buddy, who sold it on payments to another guy that screwed him over, and hid or possible junked the car. Other was a 96 Ford Mustang.... closest thing I ever had to a NEW car.... 1 year old and 15,000 miles... sold it to mom, so I could get married and get out from under the payment (lost my good paying job jst before I got married, so $$$ was tight with less pay and more bills.) She sold it later because she needed a larger car... after getting married, I was coming back from a jobsite and seen this... $1000 obo. Didnt run, wife said "No, don't even think about it!!!" 9 months later I was divorced, and paying off her almost new truck, that we couldnt aford when we got it, and she left in the burger king parking lot, when she took off... so I had no Mustang... no 69 Charger.... and a 1997 Ford F150 long bed that i had no use for, and couldnt afford payments on.... BUT.... I did make up for my losses.... I later got this (drove it a few years and sold it.) and currently have THIS as 1 of my current cars... which is what the $1000 wold have been.... for a lot less then I got in this one!<lol>
  6. I run/ran/founded a website that was all about TV and Movie Cars (http://tvandmoviecars.com), sadly my server decided to STOP providing the website option, so my site has been a lot less then it was... in 2000 I started building a Adam 12 replica, in 2005 I built a Hazzard Sheriff car, in 2007 I bought and started work on a General Lee.. all 1:1 scale.... THUS, the name. the Avatar... I seen a thing for a site to "Simpsonize yourself", where you can/could make a SIMPSONS character to resemble yourself.... so, I did. Currently I am clean shaven!<LOL>
  7. My baby is 8... I keep telling her to stop growing, but she tells me she can't!<LOL> So I enjoy every day, but know that iI'll miss her, when she grows up.... gotta cherish every moment....
  8. Green car is a 77 Monaco with around 66,000 original miles.... had 54,000 when I bought it a year and a 1/2 ago.. .it's my daily driver. Also have a 68 Satellite, not pictured.
  9. yep, I want to pick up that Gremlin, too... love the 40% off coupons... makes model kits almost fair priced... although I did my biggest buyig, when kits were $10 or less, so still get sticker shock when I go anywhere to get kits.... (love the hobby swap meets, so still can find deals, there.)
  10. if I can ever afford one, that is what my future Challenger will look like
  11. always liked that era of teh EXP... before it turned into a Escort... I even test drove one, once... but couldnt come to terms on it, with the lot.
  12. only pic I had of the replica of 1 of my cars.... (Actually photo of replicas of 3 of my cars.. since I DO own a GL also.)
  13. just posting Monacos, and I have DOH monacos in 1:25 and 1:1 scales!>LOL< BUT... have more that are NOT, then I have that are.
  14. here are 3 the green one was SUPPOSED to be color matched.... from a paint shop... they used the codes from factory color... they said.
  15. what sort of info on the beater? and.. seeing as 1 is a hazzard Sheriff Car... I did post 2 of those!<LOL> Also Have a replica of the one being built... about 1/2 done, and did 1 of the green car, using paint mixed to original factory color.. or so they said.
  16. these are jsut my unbullts!<LOL> I have a LOT of caprices built!!<LOL> but you probably do have more... ditto on the Vics.. but only because I can never find any!<LOL> I do have the Johan ambulance built, and 2 of the 60 Plymouths.. 1 you see in the pic, and 1 built. Only got 1 fire truck, sorry... and it was cut in1/2 for a project I never did!<LOL> GOt a few of the Taurus' also.. did a robocop one, BEFORE they made 1 as a model.... also made 2 robocop Mustangs.. .1 from a AMT 1 from Monogram kit. Also have 1 or 2 Baywatch Toyotas.. but they are 1/20 scale also... and like the camaro, I never built them.. jut had to have em for my collection.... and to use 1 of the decal sets for another project I did. BUT.. this is about Monacos.... so time to get back on track!<LOL>
  17. they did have toyotas for a year or 2.... but I agree, it was tough to focus on the vehicles.... guess that's why its so hard to find any photos!? <LOL> and a nissan
  18. being a tv and movie replica nut.. I have often thought about finding a yellow Ranger "Splash" and making a replica of the baywatch truck.... seeing as it would be a recent/modern vehicle (see... reliable), plentiful (see cheap), and It would be a economicable 4x4 truck (see, I live in Michigan and 4x4 is a GOOD thing!<LOL>) found this shot today.. wohoo.. that means a standard cab was correct, too! never watched later episodes.. so never seen these versions.. appearantly only young, attractive single girls in Bikinis are the only ones allowed on beaches in California.... unless you are a lifeguard or cop!<LOL>
  19. built using parts from at least 5 different kits, resin parts, and scratchbuilt parts. body and chassis are just the stock Ranger Splash kit, wheels and tires are from the 4x4 Ranger kit, bed box is resin, rescue cans and decals are from Lindberg's Baywatch Toyota, lightbar from the AMT Ecto 1 kit, sufboard from AMT 64 Mercury Marauder, the bed framing is sprue sanded, and builting into a rack. Yes, I know there is no BMF (bacvk then it was a joke to use... not sure if it;s gotten any better), I am aware the glass fell down, although I didnt notice that, until AFTER taking the photos. This poor truck is 1 of my pride and joys, but has suffered a few terrible accidents... including a ride off if a high shelf nose first into the floor, and then the bumper got stepped on while looking for all the parts, never did find the side mirrors... if I could ever find a extended cab, I'd love to do another, now that there are proably aftermarket decals, and better resin casters for the bed box, and such. but it is still 1 of my favorite builds.... and 1 of my earliest kit bashings. 1 of few reference photos I had..
  20. I would go old school... steelies with baby moons... red steelies.... never been a fan of those all chrome or whatever rims, like you have on it.... on any car... but that is MY opinion, it's your car.... but, ya did ask!<LOL>
  21. her bodywork was great.... but the car had a LOT of bondo in it, filling holes. I had 3 months to get it ready for a Dukes Of Hazzard eventt, when I bought it.... and finding rust free parts is not easy, unless you have a BIG wallet... which I dont!<LOL> I did have to build myself a new garage though... 24x36.. ironically, not a single REAL car in it, right now.. but in winter I have had up to 3 cars in it, and 1 in the old barn... which is 24x40.. but that one is my parents barn. although I do keep a FEW cars, including Monacos in mine, during the summer!<LOL>
  22. hollywood crews would go to sacramento to the police auctions and buy up retired police cars, to use as whatever was needed (That's what Dukes did.).. Taxi companies do that too, all over the country....
  23. around Christmas time, the Meijers stores had models again... and I picked up a few when they went to clearance... (No MUST HAVE kits, but a few I did like, like the 69 Charger Drag Cars.) as for the hobbytown USA pics posted.. seen a few in the pic I would like.... like that Chevy truck with a plow, thew Lindberg Crown Vic (I dont have that version)... as for the Charger cop car.. I never have seen that one, yet. As for Walmart, I guess I missed that day.... BUT, at least they are finally starting to carry more Johnny Lightning cars that I collect... after raising the prices 50 cents to a dollar each.
  24. And... I have a few in "other" scales, too... the 78 before I started to RE-restore it. the 78 pre re-restoration, parked with 1 of my OTHER toys.
  25. most recent build box stock aftermarket decals just a promo not done and got a few "waiting in the wings..."
