Erik Smith Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 This particular model KW was built in 1938 for the US Forestry Service they were equipped with a 225hp Hall Scott engine and 4 speed tranny This is still on USFS property, Lolo National Forest, Ninemile Ranger District, Montana. It was converted to haul pack mules and has an aluminum bed on it. Engine and tranny still in place - it looks like you could crank start too! (hole in radiator to crank shaft pulley)
lapazleo Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 A neat subject for a model also would be a neat resto project.
Badluck 13 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Wow,sweet lookin' Kenworth, love the lines, shame she is just sitting and waiting to be restored, hope she sees that dream.....Leo, thanks for sharing these pics!!
Chuck Most Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I just love that worn-off brush paint job! I've been trying to duplicate that in scale for years, with limited success so far. This truck's a perfect example of it.
Jim B Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 That would look really cool restored, but I'll bet finding parts for a 1937 Kenworth 521 with a Hall-Scott engine would be a nightmare!
Harry P. Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Nice looking truck. They had it going on back then, style-wise. Today's trucks don't compare.
