Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 SPOILER GATE! I cut the ends off of the Indy Vette Spoiler to fit the tail gate. I cut the inside curved edge of the Spoiler with straight lines. Then I marked the shape of the New Edge on a strip of 5/16" wide plastic... Here is the Strip in place on the Spoiler. Here is the Spoiler on the Tail Gate.! A little more Putty and Sanding and the Body Work is Done! More Coming...
Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 UNDERBODY MODS! The Old Underbody doesn't fit the New Rear End. Looks like if I cut these corners off it should be a close fit... With a little filing and sanding, I got it to fit real nice! I think I will be working on making room for and mounting the 4 rear tires next... More Coming...
Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 More Underbody Mods... I test fit the Wheels in the Body with the Underbody in place and cut away enough plastic to clear the Wheels. Next I cut 2 lengths of aluminum tubing for the axle tubes and glued them in place. I'm using 5/16" strips of plastic to fill the gap between the Body and the Underbody. Here is the first side glued in place. More Coming...
Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 FILLING THE GAP! After gluing in the second side, I gave it a Test-Fit and did a some Cutting. Looks like a little more Sanding and Fitting is needed... Here is the side view after Fitting the Underbody in place. Here's how it looks on the underside... More Coming...

Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 BIG TRUCK PIPES! I found some Great Exhaust Pipes in the AMT Silhouette kit, they remind me of the BiG Vertical Pipes on Semi Trucks. Unfortunately when I fit them on the Transports Body, they stuck out too much. So I decided to use the Silhouette's Side Panels to mount the Pipes. I cut out the Side Panels with a Cut-Off Wheel in a Dremel Tool. Next, I sanded down the edges of both Side Panels so that both Side Panels were exactly the same shape. I used the Left Side Panel,Up-Side Down, on the Right Side to mark the "Cut-Out" Lines , then I did the same for the Left Side. More Coming...
Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 FIT IT IN! I cut out the marked areas with a Cut-Off Wheel in a Dremel Tool. Then I used an X-acto knife to do the small corner cuts. Next I used an X-acto Knife and Sanding Boards to match the Cut-Out Areas to the Side Panels. Here is a Side Panel in place. Here is a Mock-Up Photo showing the Side Pipes in place. More Coming...

Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 MAKE IT THICK! When I did a Wheel Fit Check, I noticed that the Body Sides looked Very Long and Thin. So I decided to add Strip Plastic to the bottom edge of the Body. I did the strips in 2 pieces, first I glued down the Straight Plastic Strip , in the rear, on each side. Then I glued in the Curved Plastic Strips in front of the Rear Strips. Here is the side view of the New Thicker Body! More Coming...

Ira Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 GIVE ME A FIN! I thought a Fin might look good on the Vette/Attemp Racer, so I traced a few Fin Shapes on a Post-It-Note... I transferred the paper shape on to file card and cut it out. I fit it to the body and refined the shape. Then I traced the file card shape on to plastic and cut it out. Then I beveled the outside edges with an X-acto Knife and Sanding Sticks. I marked the center line on the body and did some more fitting with the Fin. Then I glued the Fin in place with Zap-A-Gap, Green Label. Here is the Fin in place! More Coming...
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Cooler than cool, slicker than slick, and tricker than trick. Still lovin' it.

Ira Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 WHERE THE WHEELS GO... I did a little measuring and I drew in outside corner lines. Then I traced the oval shapes, using the Template. Next using Needle Scribe I lightly scribed the oval shapes, several times, with the Template. Then I used the larger Scribe and enlarged the Scribed Lines. I sanded the Scribed Lines down nice and smooth. Then I went over the Lines a few more times with the Large Scribe. I found some Low Rider Tires that are the perfect size for the Racer! More Coming...
