Platerpants Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Ok i should be getting the lindberg maverick 330 in the mail sometime this week or early next week by the 22nd. Starting the planning early. Its gonna be Plum Crazy with the only decals being used is the 426 Hemi hood decals. Ill save the maverick ones for something else. But im gonna need some input on interior color im thinking white ith the purple exterior. maybe some links on info for the 330s. could i use polara info? . Please leave your info and thoughs in the comments thank you. Oh yah im a quick builder and the most detail i have access to do for engines is engine wire. But schools starting in 2 weeks or so so this may actually turn into a spare time build.
Platerpants Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 SO I KEEP THE MAVERICK STYLE WHEELS AND DO THIS(SORRY FOR MY POOR PAINT SKILLS)
gtx6970 Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 My opinion only, build it the way YOU like it. Me personally I don't think the car looks all that good in that color, darker wheels might help, but I doubt it
Platerpants Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 see its only plum cuz thats the only color i have left and my hobby funds are back at 0
dimebolt Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I think maybe add some white to it. Like the lettering on the hood, and maybe add some stripes of some sort. I like the color, but just looks too plain to me in that format. Just a critique. Model looks like a good build from what I can tell. Corey
espo Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I have allways liked the Plum Crazy '69 Road Runners , and I know that Dodge had the same thing with another name. White interior might be a good idea in that at that time most of these cars had black interiors. Even in scale that starts to make the model look very dark. I think like Bill said, do what you like and can afford at this time. The lighter colored wheels or mags might help make the model standout more. Please post pictures and good luck with your build.
Platerpants Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Got it in the mail today yay. Edited August 17, 2012 by Platerpants
Platerpants Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 got dick landy dart wheels and the engine block and trans are painted.
cobraman Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I like your idea of the white interior. I think it would "POP" with the exterior color your going to use.
B.DougBeck Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Plum Crazy was a 1970 Dodge color, paint code FC7. The Plymouth color was In-violet paint code 5182LM.
B.DougBeck Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I think you can put any color on the 64 Dodges you want and they still look great!
Platerpants Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Plum Crazy was a 1970 Dodge color, paint code FC7. The Plymouth color was In-violet paint code 5182LM. yes im aware of the year difference its just a leftover can from what i painted my 1974 dart with.
Platerpants Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 I like your idea of the white interior. I think it would "POP" with the exterior color your going to use. thanks. its a break from black interiors and blue cars.
Platerpants Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 just a little update. gold trim in the white interior. its gonna have a black undercarriage with some purple over spray. oh yah and the body is in the process of getting painted but its a bit cool to paint.
Platerpants Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 wired the engine(failed major time) and painted the body all the way. although its gonna be a street car its got the roll cage.
slusher Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 l also agree the white interior will work great with plum crazy. ...
Platerpants Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 l also agree the white interior will work great with plum crazy. ... yes i think it will but im having problems with the front suspension it seems to be leaning heavier to the driver side for some reason i tryed to make sure it was flat when i installed it. this isnt the first linberg kit ive had issues with
Platerpants Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 ok so i did a mock build just to give me and you an idea of how it will look but of course my phone takes crummy photos you can barely read the 426 hemi hood lettering. oh yah and i mixed up a little steel paint and trimmed the edge of the hood scoop. any ideas tell me.
Platerpants Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 another mock build with a mirror show the nascar exhaust tips i have chosen to put on this. also the finished interior. still trying to figure out a way to liven it up. oh and i spent 2 or 3 hours putting chrome on. it now has a dodge window decal and a 2010 dodge logo under the hood. still gotta make some license plates for it. again any suggestions are considered.
Platerpants Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 did some more engine area work. its got an msd system now and wires going from the trunk(battery) to the starter and MSD conrtols. oh and i used my moms camera to get a picture of the details. now if only i could right msd on the red box.
Platerpants Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 i know the engine detail is novice but its a start this will probably be the only one of my models ever to recieve a msd system(even though all i did was make a red box instead of put the msd logos on it

Just keep it up and you WILL only get better. Color combo is looking much better btw,
