hi i am going to make my first proper revell model the

1/24 '66 Shelby Mustang GT350

i am still getting the stuff that i need and the model

tell me what i should buy

here is the paint job i am going to paint the car in

There are plenty of internet resources that can help you find accurate colors for detail painting etc. I've heard this is a fairly decent kit, so I'll be interested in seeing how yours turns out.

If you're using nothing but rattle cans, it should probably work fine since modelers have been using this method for decades. You'll want to have all applicable parts (front & rear fascias, hood etc) primered & sanded smoothly first, as he did, because paint won't hide a poorly prepped surface. Spray the body & other parts at the same time, with equal coats so the color remains consistent

Most painters say you should spray the lightest color first. If you intend to build an accurate Sheby Mustang based on that picture, Testors makes the Wimbledon White you'll need. The Ford guys on here should be able to recommend the proper blue for the stripes.

thank you guys for telling me to look closer on the internet.

what i found is :

1.clean the model

2.wet sand the car

3.paint the primer on

4.paint a thick line of paint and let it dry

5.apply a thin coat of clear

6.mask of the stripes with Tamiya tape

7.paint the model to cover all of it and let it dry

8.strip away the tape

9.apply thin coats of clear

Instead of the thick coat of paint... built up the layers in light coats otherwise you will get runs and sags in it... when doing the strips once u have laied down the tape give a light dust of flat clear over the tape that will stop ' bleed through' and also in between coats of the colour wet sand to make sure its nice and flat.....

Not 150 or 400...... get 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500. You will need the clear coat the same as the colour to make sure there is no paint reaction...

sounds about right... just make sure the primer, paint and clear lacqure are all the same then there will be no reaction ... and after every coat even the primer wet sand with 2500 to give you a nice flat surface for the next coat .

glue for stripes? can you tell me more?!

Can you show me where I ever said to use glue for stripes? Perhaps a visit to the eye doctor is in order before you start on this project.

Preferably the same make... but if not then make sure its the same.. as in all enamal, all acrylic or all lacqure based.
