Good sellers on eBay when you stand up for yourself

Most of us who buy kits on eBay are sometimes delivered with products that aren't as advertised. When I contact the sellers about my disappointment, I have had a great track record for getting satisfaction. I won a 1/32 vintage kit for a Bugatti T35, which arrived with the wrong headlights and windshields from another kit. I contacted the seller, who gave me a credit that made the product and shipping free.

I just got a 1/16 Mercedes kit that had a mangled front bumper and had the wrong decal sheet; This is a great and expensive kit, and they gave me a $15 credit on a total $50 purchase.

My point is, if you get something below par on an eBay purchase, don't be afraid to contact the seller with a complaint. You may find there are great sellers out there who want to make you happy.

Of oourse, when you buy a kit from eBay, you need to examine it IMMEDIATELY to make sure you got what you think your bought. Don't believe claims of "new" and "sealed," because this may have nothing to do with factory products. Lots of eBay sellers do their own shrink wrapping.

It's always a good idea, if you have a problem, to contact the seller first. 99% of the time the seller will be happy to work something out and make you a satisfied customer.

Give the seller the first chance to make good on the deal. They almost always will.

I have been buying and selling on ebay since 1999 and must say with just a couple of exceptions it has been a positive experience.

I agree. Sellers rely on good feedback and will more than not, make things right. I have always contacted sellers when a problem arises and have always either received a discount or other correction - one seller sent me a complete extra kit when he couldn't ship out when promised.

I contact every seller I buy from before I click the buy button, even if I have dealt with them before. Why not start a conversation before problems arise. I've never had a problem on Ebay and I credit that to asking questions and starting talks with a seller on pleasant terms.

I bought a '99 Silverado on ebay. The pic showed the truck, trailer, and waverider. There was no trailer or waverider when I got it. I contacted the seller and he apologized and offered to send another '99 Silverado without the trailer or waverider. I was happy with the result.

l have hardly had a problem on ebay but if there was the seller always made it right. l alway check thier feedback..

I had a similar issue with a set of Italeri wheels. The ones sent were not the ones pictured. He sent me the correct set, and told me to keep the others. I purchased ANOTHER set the other day from him, and he's sending me a headache rack for free with them.

Ya know, I have been on Ebay since the very beginning. Paypal as well. 90% of my transactions are as a buyer. I have well over 500 positive feedbacks, never a negative or even a nuetral. I just recently sold a few things on Ebay over this past week and was shocked and pretty P.O.ed over how much Ebay charges in all the fees they hit you with. Then to add to the displeasure, I had three people pay me with Paypal. I go to transfer the money to my bank account and I get a message saying that now, Paypal puts a 21 day hold on any funds payed from an Ebay auction until I have sold both, over 250.00 worth of merchandise and I have to have had at least 25 transactions as a seller. I was NOT happy! Ebay only had on record that I had only sold three things which is totally wrong. It's such a scam. They tell you that if you go to Ebay and print out the shipping labels for each buyer, you can get your money three days after the seller recieves the merchandise. Of course you have to PAY for those labels! So now, when you sell something and have less than 25 things sold and payed for through Paypal, you have to ship the item and there's a chance you may never get the money. If the buyer is not happy, Paypal refunds their money. That's not right! I'm all for making the customer happy and I've always done so but what if the buyer is a scam artist and knows all they have to do is complain a little to get something for free! Ebay and Paypal are really starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth as well!
