Old Sprinter Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 With the help of Red Bull and my Ipod playing AC/DC, Bachman Turner Overdrive and the Stones I started the frame today for this newest adventure in modeling, an AJ Watson Indy Roadster. I love these cars and can't believe I'm finally building one in 1/8 scale. This thing will be Offy powered and as close to the picture as I can can get.
comp1839 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 another sweet piece, ken. you should start a sprint car museum soon!
Old Sprinter Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Thanks, Dave, I guess I could have a Sprint Car Museum. Here's what I have got done so far. The body buck is made out of 1/8" foam and is being covered with poster board, then fiberglass. When it's complete, all this will be removed and thrown away.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Beautiful work sir. I love the Indy roadsters, and this should be spectacular.
Prostreet Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Amazing work Ken, gets better everytime.

Draggon Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Amazing work Ken. It would be awesome in 1/25, but in 1/8 theres no room for errors, and you nailed it. You keep surprising me with your scratchbuilding skills
Old Sprinter Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 (edited) Thanks to all of you. I'm closing in on finishing the body. Got the glass laid up and now I'm going to cut out the body panels and hinge the hood with a small piano hinge. I still have some filling and sanding to do. I also made one wheel and tire with styrene. The wheel is a 1 1/4' conduit coupler with a styrene center. center. Edited October 2, 2012 by Old Sprinter

Old Sprinter Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) Thanks Ray. I've got it cut into sections and it fit almost perfect on the frame. It doesn't always go that well. Edited October 4, 2012 by Old Sprinter

Old Sprinter Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 I have had to red flag the Indy car project so I could crank out a couple of sprint cars before Christmas. Here's one I'm building. It will be the Maxim Chassis car of Brady Short.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Your work is inspiring. Every time I look at what you're doing, I just hafta say ...wow.
