This kit was very expensive. My heart rate was up and pounding like i was being watched by thousands of people as i put the decals on. It was like i was in the decal superbowl or something.

And the crowd goes wild.........

The decals laid down great. The only issue was that all the clear sections holding the tentacles should have been removed before install. Had to cut them on the car. That was hard. Did not want to ruin one of the better paint jobs i have ever done.

Like 70 something bucks. The regular f430 challange kits run less than 40.

They are getting hard to find and more expensive on ebay each day.

I was alittle let down that wheel and other decals were not in the kit. I will have to scavenge a number plate from somewhere

A hard day of modeling produced this. I wasted some carbon decal on the inside because you cant even see it.

Here i applied some kevlar to the wheel well. It has 900 angles.

Worse thing is is, i dont even know if this car has kevlar but some japanese sports cars do and i just had to do it.

Excellent. Looks like you're winning in the decal Super Bowl (I can't tell, though - have you scored the panel lines, like doors, etc., where they're covered by the decals?)

Shunko makes the Super GT number plate decals.

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10189121

They are sold out now but you might want to put yourself on Hobby Search's waiting list e-mail. Shunko re-release their decals from time to time, but if you don't pre-order them by the time they are available they would be all sold out.

I bought several of these to build a ALMS car and was disappointed when I opened it to discover that it was just a Challenge kit with these decals basically. I already had some Challenge kits anyway !! I probably won't use the decals on this, unless I wanna torture myself !!!

Looks awesome Gary. It's weird, but I never thought of decal-ing the body before assembly. What's your workflow? Do you just clear-coat and then decal, or do you polish/wax and then decal.

And being a newb at decals, do you apply a top coat of something to protect them?

i always base coat with the paint. remove any trash in the finish up to 12000 and then polish with a buffing compound. i then apply the decals using micro sol. i put down a light clear coat a few times. when the 3rd light coat is dry i lay down a wet coat. i then sand with 4000 on up to 12000 then buff and wax. if you go to hard on the polishing u may cut into the decals. so go light.

i always clear my deals to protect them on a project like this. i wont clear if the decals are small or they would look dumb with clear on them
