crazyjim Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Think you got it high enough, Josh? I like it. Must be fate or something - I went to Lowe's today to buy a new 8' fiberglass step ladder.
Jordan White Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 You using the TTB from one of the Bronco kits, or are you going solid axle? (My guess is the latter due to the height).
01blueedge Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 You using the TTB from one of the Bronco kits, or are you going solid axle? (My guess is the latter due to the height). I am going with a straight axle havent decided yet if I want to do coils or leafs though
modelguy45 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 its best to use leafs or coils you have to use big coils if you dowhat tires are them
01blueedge Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 its best to use leafs or coils you have to use big coils if you do what tires are them they are soreal boggers
Fat Brian Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 You wouldn't have to go much higher to build this
Jordan White Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Monster van is freakin' awesome! As for the suspension, I'd suggest perhaps making some coilovers and a 4 link...of course, if you want simple, then go leafs.
01blueedge Posted September 16, 2012 Author Posted September 16, 2012 I got the body painted and started to assemble the engine but no pics I will try and get some pics of the body tomorrow
Casey Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 You wouldn't have to go much higher to build this Look at those leaf spring-to-axle u-bolts. They're 24" long! And chrome plated.
Fat Brian Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) The Heavy Metal van was built by Mike Trinagel who owned a body shop in the Bronx. It was finished first with 40+ inch tires in 1982 and was rebuilt on 66 inch tires in 83/84. Here is a video showing a few incarnations of it, skip past the first few minutes of car stuff Edited September 19, 2012 by Fat Brian
01blueedge Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 I got the body painted its model masters fatham green metalic

01blueedge Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 I havent done to much with it i started making the front axle but i dont have any pics
01blueedge Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 a little update I started working on the front suspemsion. The front axle is scratch built with a resin dana 60 center from B-N-L resin. The front springs are phone wire wrapped around a piece of round styrene. the radius arms are the ones that came in the kit and i made some scratch built brackets to put them on.
Scalper Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 nice work so far .I just started this kit too. going to be stock 70's style coroners van.
