Sunny Side Classic (Revell 56 Del Ray)--How Do You Want Your Eggs?

Posted (edited)

Been working for the last three weeks on 4 56 Del Rays, and this weekend I am finishing all of them. Here's the first off the line, simply called Sunny Side because of the color, which is a custom mix of enamel paint and PEARL EX bling finished with a few coats of Model Master clear. Enjoy.

The look I was after was NOT an all out street machine, but a mild, smooth and classy hot rod . . .

The wheels are from The Modelhaus (170-Cs).

Although I beefed up the engine with custom carbs and stacks, I left it stock for the most part. What I've always loved about this kit is the clean way it all comes together in particular inside the engine bay.

Thank you, Ron and Sonny. I had a couple of issues with this kit, but all my fault. The first was that I place the radiator part in place before gluing on the grill and so there's a separation on one side of the grill and the body. Not a big deal. The other was with the rear tires which I should have made to fit a bit better.

But overall, I like the look of this model and I also like the color. Reminds me of some of the best breakfasts I've had at the Waffle House. LOL!

It's not too late to take off the rear suspension and narrow it a bit, so the rear wheels will fit within the wheelwells without hitting the body.

In this case I am afraid so, Harry. The whole rear suspension and wheels is held together with two part resin. It's not that bad. LOL, maybe I am getting way too lazy in my old age.

very nice doc. you didn't even scuff the tires, you're slipping. :D

James, I hit the tires and white wides with a bit of dullcoat, but no, you are right, these are pretty brand spanking new tires. LOL.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I have another one finished and going up.
