On the strength of the responses to my '48 ford on this forum, I decided to enter it in my first model contest: Wing Nut Con.

This event was sponsored by IPMS and a local club (Rob Wolfe, Denver IPMS).

When the judging was done I wandered over to the class 27 custom auto' table and was amazed to find...

Thanks to everyone who commented on the original thread; it was your encouragement that prompted me to enter.

Thanks, Guys. There's another contest coming up next month, in Loveland, and I'm going to try to get my '37 Ford pickup done for that one.

By the way, what's the proper etiquette / protocol regarding entering a model in subsequent competitions once it's won an award?

It depends, usually you can get a few shows out of a model, especially since you didn't win 1st. Some clubs do have a no repeat rule where you car couldn't place in the Wing Nut show next year though.

Everyone does it differently. Some guys drag the same models out year after year. Most shows won't accept them if they've won something the year before. The view I've heard most often is the model being on the 'circuit' for a year so in other words your 48 would retire in time for next year's Wing Nut con.

Congrats, the feeling of placing in a model show is just great.Almost the same feeling as finding a twenty on the sidewalk,It just makes your day.And for the contest just take it to any contest it hasn't been to before.

Congratulations on a well deserved award. I think that as long as you don't enter the model in the same contests again you'll be OK. Keep up the great work.
