I remember that a friend of mine had that kit some years ago, and it turned out into cool Gasser. Your start looks good. Are there two different bodies included in the kit, can't remember?

That is a great question Doobie . The grill must be one of the things. LOL

Thanks andy yeh i guessed the grill was different but the front wings seem to have more of a peak along the top

when compeared to the revell coupe . Do I make it rounder or not?

I think on one the wipers are at the top of the windshield and one at the bottom , but not for sure?

So far Ive only seen wipers at the top so im not sure on that either?

I was at a show in Detroit a few years ago and two guys were standing by their 37-39 Willy's Pickup .

To get to the point they said that the two front fender's were from two different plants on the truck (I do not know how they new this for sure ) .

They said the head lights did not match from one side to the other , Welded in two different positions.

Just found a picture of a stock 41 and the grill is one piece . The top of the fenders are just like the Revell fenders ( rounded not peaked ).

As far as the wipers go the hood is up in the picture .But I did not see a wiper up at the top right corner .

40 Willy's have a two piece grill with a bar in the center being body color. The wipers are on the top of the windshield.

41 Willy's have a one piece grill and the wipers are on the bottom of the windshield .

I just looked for 40 Willy's on the web. Hard to find a stock one to look at.

Ok so what your sayin is the kit grill is wrong and the wipers should be at the top and the wings should be

peaked is that right?

so its not true that they where all race cars from the factory lol  I must admit ive never seen a stock willys

What engine did they have as stock?

The kit grill is not a 40 grill from all the picture I have found of a 1940 Willy's . It is a grill that race car drivers used ,It has no center bar .

The wings as you call them should not be peaked as they are in the kit. They should be more like the Revell coupe kit.

They had a flat head four just like the jeep's from the war. That should be close enough .

Just call your truck a 1941 and use the kit grill. Put the Wipers on the bottom.

I think this kit is like many of the real Gasser were, 1940 body with the 41 fiberglass nose. The top of the fenders should not be pointed, they should be rounded off.

Here is a stock 41/42 pickup and an original 40 Willys Brochure. Someone make the 40 willys body in resin. The grill is actually in two parts and the bar in in the center is part of the body.

Doobie, I make a '40 Willys coupe in resin; and also make a correct '41 Willys pickup cab that is based on the new tooled Revell '41 Willys coupe kit (like the Big John Mazmanian Willys kit). The AMT Willys pickup and the Revell '41 Willys pickup cabs are way out of proportion; which is why I decided to master a correct '41 Willys pickup cab. To kind of explain just how far off (in one area) that the Revell Willys pickup cab is.............just the door from that kit is as long as my correct body from the front door line to the back of the cab. The AMT Willys pickup cab is also too long.........for starters; but there's no need to go into all of the inaccuracies of both kits. Anyway, if you are interested, I can set you up with one of my correct '41 Willys pickup cabs; and more then likely a 'junk' '40 Willys coupe body that you could cut the grille section out (clean cut) to graft into the pickup body. I don't offer the grille pieces at this time; but it looks like you don't mind a little scratch building! LOL! Drop me a line if you are interested.............or, if nothing else to answer any other questions you might have...Ed (Drag City Casting). lowcab36@epix.net

You are welcome. I have many more if you need them.

I forgot your question on the engine. It would be a flat head four cylinder, same as the Willys Jeep. Someone makes a Photo etched grill for the 41.
