slusher Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I lately got kinda stressed working on more the onw build at a time so after a week off l broke out a prepainted AMTproshop kit and built it. Now l am back at the bench on my normal projects. Does anybody else ever work non a prepainted or diecast kit just for fun and put it with the other builds??
VW Dave Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 All the time. An easy build can be a good break from whatever rut I'm in, and finishing something is a really big boost
Greg Pugh Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I've been thinking about doing this lately. I could use a "quickie".
dimebolt Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Heck yeah Carl. Pre painted builds are really good for a weekend project with the kids. Corey
TooOld Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 (edited) I've done it a couple of times , It really helps to do something simple instead of spending 2 or 3 months on a build . Right now I'm doing a 1/32 kit with about ten parts to it and just playing around doing different stuff to it ! It's pretty relaxing and I'm getting the itch to start another long project . Greg Myers Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I think this is the best cure for the builders block, blahs, what ailes ya, modeling blues there is, prepainted, diecast or both.
peekay Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I had great success with the AMT pre-dec Edsel and it doesn't look at all out of place next to my other models. I used BMF, detail paint, engine wiring, polish etc. And I've always got a promo or three that I'm refining - or ruining, depending on your point of view..
W-409 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Never built a Prepainted kit, or modified DieCasts, but after the F/Stock Eliminator Nova which was very long project and built with NHRA RuleBook, I decided to do something really different. I took somekind of Bugatti glue bomb, or actually, what was left of it, glue bomb Chevy Small Block and built kind of What If Style Dragster from it with in four days or something. It was very fun and relaxing build. It looks like a fast build too, but it was just for fun. I'd like to try building DieCast car, too.
Ramfins59 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I've never built either pre-painted kits or diecasts. My "quickie builds are usually Curbsides or Slammers, but sometimes even those turn out to be more involved than originally planned.
slusher Posted October 7, 2012 Author Posted October 7, 2012 Everytime l do a prepainted or die cast it reminds me that fun is what its all about...
The70judgeman Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I've done a bunch. Not to take a break from regular kits...just something that was interesting. Yeah, they're quick builds, but not the point of building it. Built a '66 GTO, '50 something Cadillac, the new Challenger, the Police Charger, the Hot Wheels Pantera GTS(1/18th scale) just to name some.
