Guys,

Maybe someone has (1) one of these available.

Clint Freeman Neway (Resin) Lift axle assembly. Either new, or parts accepted. Willing to pay..can use PayPal if you would like..can also trade Peterbilt 378 parts for this as well.

This could be a tough one. Clint's stuff seems to be getting harder to find. Plaskit might have something you could work with.

Anthony's right about that. I've been looking for his engines, especially the Cummins Big Cam IV that he had, and the Caterpillars. Good luck. Plaskit does have a lift axle from what I've seen. If you ever hear of the engines I mentioned, let me know. I'll keep my eyes out for your axle. I often wonder why Clint quit, he had some of the coolest stuff.

When Clint first made his announcement about shutting down it was said, not by Clint himself however, that he was tired of having people re-casting his work and then trying to sell the parts. Clint's parts where awsome and it was a shame he stopped casting. I have been trying to get one of his Paystar hoods for about 2 years now. The only other caster I have experience with is Plaskit. Daniel's work is excellant and he his a super guy. I had the chance to meet him this past April at Masscar and he gave me a copy of his catalog on cd.

I have had the opportunity to buy and use Clint's items through Ebay...and yes you do pay for them. His work was outstanding..I just wish I started building years ago when he was going strong in business...and bought extra's. I can understand his issue with (re-casting's)

The Pete 357 dump is just fighting me in everyway..especially on the frame. Duplicolor "gloss black" I am starting not to like..To my "high" standards, regarding finishes..I just had to strip the entire frame..(brake fluid works fine..JUST NOT ON RESINS parts...long story

My Clint Freeman lift axle literally melted....Not happy...now I know.

Looked in my parts box...custom building one "lift axle" as I speak...this will look cool. Sure..I have lot of free time..luckily this thing hasn't hit the wall as of yet.

Anthony..I know you mentioned at one time, what you use for your frames..both for primer and paint..could you please share that with me once again..I would really appreciate it.

Sorry, I haven't been on the forum as of lately...work,vacation..and now the kids all four of them are heading back to school...Well happy building to all.

Thanks 4 taking the time 2 explain. I guess I could understand why he would be upset. He always filled the void with more unique items, like his turbo wings, air dryers, tarp straps, and other small detail items. And he had more modern truck conversions, and engines. Because of this, I really thought he would outlast everyone in the model truck aftermarket. Then again, he was underminded by the copycats. :rolleyes: I don't blame him. As 4 the Plaskit lineup, great stuff there. I like the Ford hoods, and the T600/800 front suspension correction kit. :)

I use Painters Touch flat black spray on my frames. It's made by Rustoleum and Home Depot is about the easiest place to find it. I have never had a problem with it and it can be used with no primer. If I do prime I use Duplicolor. I don't really like to prime frames if I don't have to. There hard to wet sand with out killing the frame detail. I have used Tamiya clear on PT flat black and it gives a semi-gloss finish. I did this on my Lowboy trailer I recently did. Cabs and hoods I use Tamiya spray with a undercoat of Future floor wax as a barrier to stop bleed thru. I also use Tamiya straight on bare plastic if the paint color is darker than the plastic, say Metallic blue paint on gray plastic. Give me a yell if I can be of help.

When I meet Daniel he showed me the master he was working on for the Mack DMM. He hoped it would be available for the re-issue of the MK DM-600. I don't know if it is out yet or not, the last order I got from Plaskit he sent me an updated paper catalog but there was no DMM hood yet. Daniel's KW stuff is real nice as you said. I forgot to mention Dave Natale in my earlier post. My Brockway is one of Dave's casts and I have the most respect for him as a builder and now as a caster. He may also be an option for new parts in the future as well. I would not hesitate to order from either Daniel or Dave.

What's goin' on...

Looks like I'm starting in on this thread a little late. I was wondering why CFC is no longer in business. I can't blame the guy for his reasoning as well. It only takes a few for a better choise of words no good mother ******* to ruin it for the majority! I managed to grab his 9300 conversion kit. He'd discontinued that piece and I wrote him a few times to bring it back. Once it showed back up on his site I bought one. I too took forgranted thinking I'll oder some parts later on! Now I resort to scratch building.

As for the Nuway lift axle which style were you wanting? Steerable w/ single wheel per side or a non steerable with duals?

There was a guy out of Australia at www.modeltrucks.com.au who had Caterpillar C16 engines in resin. You could get them as a kit or already built & detailed. Funny thing is though, his site worked last week, but I couldn't get it to work today. Strange. Maybe it will work tomorrow. Maybe he's out of business. The engines looked nice though. He had the C16, DD Series 60, DD 8V92, DD 8V71, & Cummins N14; and he said that more were going to be offered.

Also, on the oter board, there was a discussion about someone offering the Cummins Signature engine. I think this was the predesessor to the ISX, so one should be able to convert it. But knowing your track record with the ISX, you probably don't want a model of one!

I have a bunch of Clint Freeman stiuff, but not as much as want. I have a tag axle I can spare BUT, only if you can trade me a set of the Clint Freeman 1/24th scale two or five hole wheels.

Thanks Jim, I'll check that out. I am still watching for that ISX. My truck still doesn't pull a hill, but at least it's giving me less problems. I can't complain as much, although there are still some bugs.

Anthony, I like that Brockway you built. Dave Natale is a skilled builder and caster. I really enjoy looking at his builds on his site.

Shame about the axle. I'm sure a man of your skills will soon overcome the difficulty. I was interested to read the comments about Clint Freeman Components. I wondered what happend to him. Now I know. I agree with the others his standards were superb. I recently bought a batch of 3 12V71T Detroit Diesels of ebay, price was reasonable. I was lucky with these not many people were bidding. However some of the other Clint Freeman products are difficult to get hold of and are becoming as rare as Hen's Teeth. I keep looking out for a Pete 358 hood conversion kit. But the only ones I've seen on ebay are available to US only and go for a tidy sum of money. Still I keep on looking but might have a go at making my own. One question though. What happened to the moulds?

I have the 358 kit Dave and I'm working on it as a side project while I progress on some others. It is a nice casting. The one I bought is missing the front spring hangers, which are narrowed for the narrow hood, but I will be just modifying my Cailfornia Hauler's frame to make up for it. I can't remember who got his molds, but I believe they aren't casting at the moment either.

I thought Clint still had his molds. I never heard of anyone offering any of his parts lately, other than re-sales on e-bay.

I have purchased some Plaskit parts from the Canadian guy on e-bay, his listings are without pictures and he only lists a limited amount of parts. I don't think he was Plaskit, but a reseller. Decent stuff so far!
