SuperStockAndy Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I'm breaking my silence with this one... After trying to build a model in a month for the Gearz contest, I got burnt out. Suddenly I got inspired to work on this, which was sitting in my stash. I'm really trying to pay attention to details on this one, I want it to turn out nice... ^That's my first true wiring job. Really glad with how it came out I'm going to detail the chassis with parking brake cables, fuel lines, etc., but I can't really find much info on it. So I guess I'll keep searching Thanks for looking!
BKcustoms Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Nice work! This is one of my favorite kits, I can't wait to see how it turns out.
dimebolt Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Looks like you're off to a great start Andy. Keep it up man. Your engine wiring looks good also. Corey
W-409 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Looking Good, Andy! I'm sure this one will turn out very nice, the engine looks fantastic already and I do like the chassis too. Keep it coming, I'll be following for sure. Just remember to paint those Gas Tank "Brackets" with different shade of silver, they give nice detailed touch to the chassis too. ;)
SuperStockAndy Posted October 20, 2012 Author Posted October 20, 2012 Thanks everyone Niko, I remembered the gas tank straps, the Metalizer paint was still wet when I shot the pic so I couldn't paint them then. Today I'll try to buff the gas tank a little bit and try to get it looking nicer
mikemodeler Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 wondering what happened after you bagged all those Gearz prizes! Glad to see you back at it, this should be as nice or nicer than the 69 Z-28!
SuperStockAndy Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks Jim and Mike! Small update, got the body in primer. Got a few imperfections to work out still, but it'll be ready for paint soon. I'm going with some Chevy Orange engine paint for the whole car.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Thanks Bill! So I'm working on the interior and getting some small details on: Note the power steering hoses and the excessive toe angle.... I gotta say, this is some of the most fun I've had building a model. I used to hate detailing but it doesn't seem as boring once you get the hang of it.
W-409 Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 That looks very good! Your engine details look very nice, and it's true-Detailing is not as horrible as it feels first. And it makes the model look much better.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Thanks Painted the body with Chevy Engine orange, I'll post pics once I get a second coat on.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Picture of the painted body! Once it gases out for a couple days I'll wetsand all the orange peel out of it. Too bad it doesn't show up well in the particular lighting I'm using. I'm on a roll now, and nobody can stop me!!! Edited December 6, 2012 by SuperStockAndy
tjones87 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Looks good so far....I plan on replicating my 1:1 71 Camaro...and plan to detail it also...will be watching how this one comes out.... Which kit is this? Edited December 6, 2012 by tjones87
SuperStockAndy Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 Thank you! The kit is the newer AMT repop, bow looks like this: It's not a bad kit, could be better in some areas but not too bad.
