cavemanx Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I walked into my local HobbyTown the other day and wanted a more "average Joe" car. this is the closest I could get. Feel free to comment and criticize and tell me if i have too much Chrome on the trailer (trailer is as far as i got yesterday).
cavemanx Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Thank you. just started working on the engine.
cavemanx Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Anyone have chassis pics and know what engine the kit has? The kit doesn't say anything other then "V8"
espo Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Trailer looks like some of the aluminum trailers I have seen. Maybe a little sign of tire tread marks in the treads, but looks real nice.
cavemanx Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 (edited) A little progress... Should the engine and tranny be orange or engine orange and tranny aluminum? Had to modify it a little to make stuff fit right. Edited October 23, 2012 by cavemanx
Fat Brian Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Anyone have chassis pics and know what engine the kit has? The kit doesn't say anything other then "V8" The engine is supposed to be a 454.
MyBradKeselowski Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 (edited) Caleb, The tranny would be aluminum and the engine orange, although I know of two 76 Caprices with 454's where the engines are blue... Edited October 23, 2012 by MyJoeyLogano20
cavemanx Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Caleb, The tranny would be aluminum and the engine orange, although I know of two 76 Caprices with 454's where the engines are blue... well I know, I've just seen many modelers paint both the engine and tranny the same color, but thanks for your input. and thanks for the info Fat Brian.
cavemanx Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 thanks. i weathered the tires a bit and put mud on the ramp
slusher Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Love the way you painted the trailer looks realistic. What did you use?? Your choice but l would not weather the trailer...
Fabrux Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 From what research I've done, engines of this era were painted GM Corporate Blue.
Platerpants Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Love the way you painted the trailer looks realistic. What did you use?? Your choice but l would not weather the trailer... my Krylon silver and real mud. From what research I've done, engines of this era were painted GM Corporate Blue. he already painted it orange
cavemanx Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 I will have pictures of the engine on tonight or tomorrow
cavemanx Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) ENGINE!! Not much detail, but I'm happy with it. Edited October 27, 2012 by cavemanx
H.A.K Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Not a fan of that car, but knowing your building it. It's going to look good.
cavemanx Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Any recommendations on how to fill in the giant holes in the gas tank?
Platerpants Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 take the circular things on the parts tree and cut them out. then glue them down cut them to size. then take some putty and apply it, wait for it to dry then sand it down.
cavemanx Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 I will have pictures of the chassis tomorrow.
cavemanx Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Chassis. I didn't like the wheels the kit cam with, so i used wheels that came with a 1955 Chevy truck. Looks nicer in my opinion. I don't know if the picture shows it well, but i tried weathering the exhausts a little.
cavemanx Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Might be postponed for a few days do to Frankenstorm.
