1950's diesel engine source?

I'm looking for something that would be correct for a 1952/53-vintage truck in 1:25 scale, 1:24 if that won't pan out. Is there anything out there that would work? Could a fairly common kit engine be backdated?

nh 250 Cummins out of various AMT kits could easily be backdated any resin 6 71 detroit also would work. Early Cummins have different fuel pump and external fuel lines other wise same appearence.

There is a great resin caster from eastern Europe that has begun selling stuff on ebay under the name danmodels, he makes a fifties supercharged Cummins motor that looks unbelieveable but it is a bit spendy.

Check me if I'm wrong, but weren't the majority of Detroit Diesels in the 50's inline engines? That's where Detroit's started in the very late 1930's, inline 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines.

I want to think that Vee-block Detroits began appearing in the late 1950's.

Yes it is, there is a build thread for some of his parts on Hank's truck forum. He makes some awesome stuff that appears to be worth every penny.

Also, Detroits used to be called GM Diesels, if I'm not mistaken.

Im not sure but i bet the engine out of the linburg dodge l700 wouldnt be a bad alternative.

Yeah- I've seen that resin one, but I'm thinking reworking an AMT Cummins might be a bit more financially-feasible route for me!
