Lyle Willits Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Inspired by a DAVE LINDSAY photo (so what else is new?) and in the tradition of Irv Arter and Matt Trotta, I had to start a mild custom '51 Chevy. (Yes, I know the car in the pic is a '53.) It will sit lower than this. All handles, trim and emblems have been removed, the vent frames thinned and a subtle lip built around the grille opening. I made a new, simple chrome strip for each side. The grille will be Corvette teeth with a turn signal lense at either end.Front and rear pans will be reshaped to accept the smooth bumpers from a Revell '54 Chevy sedan delivery. I found that the King Bee headlights from a Revell '32 Roadster will french right into the headlight holes,,,,,doesn't get easier than that. Bob Dudek lakes pipes will be used. Roof will be silver, body black. I have a lot more detail to add to the '59 Vette engine. I'm using the stock interior, with some piping and detailing. Bob Dudek aluminum mufflers and the beginings of a scratchbuilt exhaust system. That's all for now
SoCalCarCulture Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 COOL - Glad I could provide the inspiration!
Matt T. Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 COOL - Glad I could provide the inspiration! And I, some of the "tradition!" That looks great so far, Lyle. I love the color combo and the choice of a Vette mill. That seat piping looks keen too!
raisin27 Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Thats one cool ride, excellent details on the interior and mill. Raisin
