Der Bugmeister Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Building a '29 Ford, and I'm not totally thrilled with the effect of the moulded radiator grill. What sort of screening or other material have you found to be good for this application?
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 This is about the best I've seen. Some guys use screen, but I don't really think it looks right. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-24-RADIATOR-FACE-PHOTO-ETCH-DETAIL-TAMIYA-REVELL-HIRO-/290650248378
Der Bugmeister Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 That stuff looks good, but a bit pricey for the level of detail on this project. Any idea on the dimension of the sheet they sell? I couldn't see any info on that...
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 My sheet is getting pretty small, but I think it comes in about 3"X4", which is enough for several models.
blunc Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 a long time ago I saw that wire mesh was used in transmission filters, I never got around to chasing down one to tear it apart but what I did see was very fine mesh and may suitable if you can salvage some.
Der Bugmeister Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 I found a good mesh material at my LHS which I think is going to work out nicely. Cost less than an eighth of stuff that Bill suggested (granted that more expensive stuff looks really good) I'll post some pics once I get it assembled.
