Petetrucker07 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Man, that finish looks outstanding. I'm happy for you, now that the paint is finally red.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I love it when a plan comes together! Look Incredible!!!
Kenny B Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 looks great. ;-)) Thanks, Ken. She's ready to be put together. Ken.
Kenny B Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 (edited) Well I'm at the point of my build that everyone thought I would never get to. It's now time to put it all together. The cab marker lights and back cab wall are now installed. Carpet and seatbelts are installed also. The door panels were re done because I wasn't happy with the door handles that were built the first go round. New wood trim and door open handles were built. The windshield was in real bad shape. It was so badly cracked that I just couldn't use it. I looked around the house to find some clear plastic to use. I ended up using an old tape cassette tape box that had a bit of a tint to it. I had to make it in two sections and fits alot better than the original one. Seats are ready to install as well. And at last the rest of the parts and pieces are ready to be put in the cab. Once everything is assembled the hinged doors will be installed as well. Will post more as soon as she comes together. Thanks for following my build. Ken. Edited February 4, 2018 by Kenny B
williamchevelleman1972 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Wow! Youve done some really amazing work! Just Amazing. Keep up the good work!!!!
Tesla Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 The paint job is awesome and tops off a fine looking build!
Kenny B Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Thanks guys. It sure has taken me a while to get her done. I'm sure not one to throw in the towel. The paint thing sure set me back a bit and even thought of stripping it right down and going to a different color. I'm glad that I stuck with it for sure. I've started on the cab interior and have a few pics to show. I made the template for the headliner out of paper to get the right fit. Once I was happy with the fit I traced it to a thin piece of cardboard and then glued on the material. I really wanted to use the same leather that was used on the seats but didn't have any pieces big enough to use. So I had to settle on the same material I used for the sleeper walls. The marker lights were made from Plastruct fluoresent rod painted clear orange. The idea was to light the truck up but I have now decided not to do it. An over head storage compartment was made to cover the inside . Head liner installed Storage compartment test fit. More pics to come........ Ken. Edited February 5, 2018 by Kenny B
Kenny B Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Looking through my parts box I found a poor looking CB unit that needed a little work. It's missing the back and the bottom of it and no cables. A bit of plastic, a little silver wash and some wire makes it looks alot better. The CB will be mounted on overhead compartment. The windshield was glued into place and is now drying. I like to use plain old fashion white glue. Works every time. Easy clean up. That's it for now. More to come very soon. Ken. John Clutch Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Very VERY nice recovery after the clearcoat issue. I know how hard it is to spent countless hours and money on stuff, only to have a unforeseen issue burn it to the ground. I applaud your dedication, no matter how much it hurt to redo it. Great job. And I see we both have similar taste on modifications, Im sure a rig build will be in my future at some point, and this thread has inspired that.

One thing about the large scale trucks is that there is so much you can do with them. The only down side is that nobody makes after market parts for them. You are pretty much on your own . I hope you do build one it was a lot of fun to do even with the paint issue. My next one in line is a 1/16 scale KW w900. Plan to have fun with that one as well. I hope that you do build one I enjoy looking at other peoples ideas as well. Ken.
gatorincebu Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Cool build and some impressive progress! I like the Q-tips used to hold the windshield in place. Very innovative! Be Well Gator
Kenny B Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 Cool build and some impressive progress! I like the Q-tips used to hold the windshield in place. Very innovative! Be Well Gator Thanks Gator, The Q-tips were used so I didn't have to sit for hours waiting for the white glue to dry.White glue sure works well for windshields and if you get any on them it comes off really easy and drys clear. Once the paint was done with the rest is easy. I have the cab interior almost done should have pictures tomorrow I hope. I added a few things to it. Ken.
Kenny B Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 I have some new pictures of the progress of my Pete. I have wired up the steering column and added a third handle for the Cat brake saver. Wired in the CB radio. CB radio is now mounted. Interior is done!!! More to come. Ken.

Kenny B Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Thanks guys. You can't really see it in this picture but I just had to have a ape hanger shifter extension it is taller than the dash. One more picture and it's time to attach the doors to the cab and put cab onto the interior. I sure am glad it's coming together now. Sleeper interior is next. This picture is better. Will post more as it comes along. Ken. Edited July 26, 2015 by Kenny B

Kenny B Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Hello all. I have some more pictures of my up dates. I have the doors mounted and they work just fine. However I do have a few fit and finish issues but nothing major. The steering column has to moved over about 5mm or less than a quarter of an inch. It is resting against the drivers door when closed. The heater box has to be shaved off a little off the back as it hits the back of the dash. Right now the door panels are just attached with tape to see how everthing fits. I also see that the map pockets that I put on the doors need to come off as well as they hit the seats when they are in the lowest position. But nothing major, She's comming along. Once thats finished I can install the visor and the mirrors. Will post more soon. Thanks, Ken
