I'd go chrome. You can't go wrong since everything else is chrome.

Where did you get those "lug nuts". I'm really thinkin of building a 1/16 scale.

Thanks Clayton, Pen tips for lug nut covers.

Everything is looking pretty awesome....This is one serious project....The sleeper looks good and the wheels are coming along, nicely.....I like the chrome idea, as well....Not so much into the whole black rim thing.....Man, this is looking good.....

Thanks guys for your input. Now i'm wondering if I should spray them chrome or polished aluminum? I'm using the Alclad paint and can't decide which one to use. I have both.

Well, for me....The shinier, the better.....Love that shine, but polished aluminum would work, too....Most trucks I see have some sort of blend of the two, anyway....Shiny rims and tires but aluminum finish on the tool boxes, etc...So, I don't think you could go wrong with either....

I'm with JT, love that shine! It may be superficial and a bit unrealistic in the 1:1 truck world but I love chrome. B)

Thanks JT, Mike and Dennis for your comments. It looks like the choice looks to be everything chrome.

I'm going to paint one rim each color to decide. I'm leaning polished alum.rims with chrome caps and nut covers.

Oh, by the way I found center caps yesterday at the Dollar Store. "Wiggle eyes" will work fine. They have been primed and painted gloss black. Pictures to come soon.

Well I have the rims and center caps all painted chrome. The lighting isn't so good but they are chrome.

The back of the wiggle eyes that I found at the dollar store are altered to fit then painted gloss black.

The center caps are now painted chrome and installed with the nut covers. The rims are ready to be installed back onto the truck.

That looks awesome man. This is one of 2 1/16 scale trucks that got me thinkin of building one now. I'll definitely be stealing some your ideas to build mine, whenever that'll be. Very very nice work.

Clayton, Maybe when your son is old enough to drive you will have some time to build one. Would love to see you build one with better ideas than mine.Hopefully it won't take you as long as me. Remember they don't make any aftermarket parts for 1/16 scale trucks.

They do make some. As Clayton mentioned, Ryan makes quite a few 1/16 aftermarket goodies and there are a few 3D items on Ebay. The good thing about 1/16 is that it's a little bit easier to make your own parts if you need to. I built a lot of 1/16 customs 10-15 years ago when there were literally no aftermarket parts available. You can do wonders sometimes with a piece of styrene, an Xacto knife, a relatively steady hand, and a few Band-Aids!

Thanks to everyone for following my build. I have some updated pictures of my build.

I have installed the fuel tanks and have the fuel crossover lines connected to the tanks.

I have the fuel lines installed from the tanks to the fuel pump.

What a mess of hoses. The fuel lines still need to be jap strapped together to tidy them up.

More to come soon.

Thanks.KenB)
