I have a question for you Kenny. Did you make those cab fenders, or order them?? I'm in the process of a scratch built 1/16 Pete 359, and would love to add/make the same style fenders

Jon, I made the fenders myself.

Thomas, It's an old kit and scratch built refer to page 1 for the story of how it all started.

Ken, that front grill of yours looks awesome. Also, the fenders looks shiney. Mind I ask, what is your painting/polishing process? Thank you kindly :)

Mike

Mike,

I like to use all Tamiya products on my models. I like the easy cleanup and no smell.

Once all the body work is all done I spray Tamiya primer then wet sand it with about 1800 and look for flaws.Wash with soap and water, then repeat several times until perfect.

Then I sprayed Tamiya titanium sliver mixed with some titanium gold (using an airbrush). It was lightly wet sanded with 3600 washed with soap and water and sprayed again.

Wet sand again if needed. Then I spray on Tamiya clear,Wet sand lightly with 4000 washed with soap and water and spray another thicker coat.

Wet sand with 4000 once more to remove any dust marks or orange peel and let sit for a couple of weeks before polishing

with Maguiers car wax.

Hope this helps. The important thing is to make sure that you wash it well to remove fingerprints and specks of dust.

Be careful not to sand through the paint or clear coat.

A dust free room is important. I made my own spray booth using a plastic tote with a small fan and a dryer hose to vent outside. It works well and is dust free.

A lot of guys may not agree with all the steps I do, but it works for me and looks flawless when finished.

Wow! And the results show!

Watch out show circuit! You will be spanking the judges.....or as we say down south... "that'll make you want to slap your mammy!"

Kenny, one of these days I hope to get somewhere in the same ballpark (even if just in the parking lot) as this level of true craftsmanship. A true work of art and demonstration of talent.

Peace
