Gregg Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Our club is a having a Ferrari challenge, and here are two on the workbench right now: I'm also working on a few 43rd pieces, pics later on those.
crispy Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 mmmmmmmmmmm Maranello. Black looks good on it Gregg. Is that a 355 in blue? Looking good. Good Luck! Chris
Gregg Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks, guys. The black is flat black that I polished out, no clear at all, just Tamiya polishes and paint. Trick I found is not to use polishing rag to do the work. I used Q-Tips, and we (Jairus and I) put this tip in our column. When you use a polishing rag or cloth, you have no control, I don't care how small you make the rag around your finger tip, you are still polishing or removing paint using a scale area of about a foot or more! It's like polishing with a tent! Using a Q-Tip you get precise control, and virtually no burn through. The blue is Tamiya I think either Mica or Metallic Blue
GTmike400 Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 He's alive! Those are going to be great models Gregg. The Marnello is going to be sweet.
Zoom Zoom Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 It warms my heart to see Ferraris painted in anything but red Nice work! Black is a great color for a Maranello, and the F355 looks like it's 30 minutes from being done 8)
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Nice work Gregg. This is what I call cool beyond words...the magazine editor actually building models and participating in the forum. A true man of the hobby! Glad you're able to participate. Join us when you can.
Billy Kingsley Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I like the black one. I don't know much about Ferraris but I know they look good. I have to get going on my neon green Enzo. You know, just to be diffrent
Tom Kren Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Nice job Gregg! the black one is going to be sweet and thanks for the tip I know black is the hardest to paint thats why ya dont se me doing any in that color.
MikeBoyle Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 WOW! That was flat black! That is one beautiful paint job. Can't wait to see the finished product.
