martinfan5 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) Do you think Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013? Why yes I do, and according to Chevrolet I am right http://www.chevrolet.com/one13thirteen.html I know its hard to believe, but there are times that I do know what I am talking about Edited December 12, 2012 by martinfan5
Danno Posted December 12, 2012 Author Posted December 12, 2012 Are you sure? Because I heard Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. But maybe you're right and instead Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Or maybe I'm right and Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Wanna bet on who's right?

Scale-Master Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I have heard AND read the same thing. Repeatedly. That Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Yes! Sunday, January 13, 2013. But how do you know I have not already seen it...?
Austin T Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Some classic cars can and do cost more then the Vette will cost, unless you are talking about buying a classic that needs to be restored, then you can buy a few for the price of the Vette I know that, but you can still find decent cars on craigslist for a few grand that are classics and with some of the other extra money you can fix them up,I also wasn't trying to sound as snobish as I did.Sorry if it came out that way ,I just don't like vettes, camaros, and most new concept cars.

Now that my head has exploded, I am going back to bench an see if I can build better models now
1930fordpickup Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 They are starting to get Ugly like the 58 -82 models.

Longbox55 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 And how do you know I havent already driven a version of it? I've driven one! No quite fast enough for me, though.
Danno Posted December 12, 2012 Author Posted December 12, 2012 If the Mayans were right, it won't matter anyway! Yeah, but when they ended the world on 12-21-12, they didn't know that Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. If they had known that then, they wouldn't have ended the world until after Chevrolet formally reveals the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013, now would they? Martinfan5(5)'s head exploded? Well, at least there wasn't much mess. [insert Rimshot Emoticon here.]
Harry P. Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 This doesn't have anything to do with anything... but tomorrow is 12-12-12. That won't happen again this century. So should we call it "Century Day" and celebrate?
martinfan5 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Yeah, but when they ended the world on 12-21-12, they didn't know that Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. If they had known that then, they wouldn't have ended the world until after Chevrolet formally reveals the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013, now would they? Ahh, but maybe they did, and that is why they want the world to end
Guest Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 enter the worlds ugliest vette Ditto 1968. What he said.
2002p51 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Some classic cars can and do cost more then the Vette will cost, unless you are talking about buying a classic that needs to be restored, then you can buy a few for the price of the Vette If you go to an event like the Charlotte Auto Fair with, say, $10,000, you can have your pick from literally several hundred really nice classic cars in driver condition that will need virtually nothing to drive it home. Can you buy a 90 point concourse '57 T-bird for that? No, but you might be surprised to learn how many nice cars from the '50s and '60s that go for that price and less. And for me personally, I'd rather have a beater from the fifties than that new Corvette.
gerdog Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 They are starting to get Ugly like the 58 -82 models. I Iike the '58 to '60 vettes with the 4 headlights instead of the 2 that the '57 had. For me, the vettes got ugly from '73 to about 2003, then started looking good again. For me, a Mustang gt500 from2011 or 2012 would fill my real world auto desires.
pandamonium2112 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I have to agree with the "Too Camaro ish" statement. It almost looks like the designers forgot half way through the project that they were working on a Vette. Both cars are stand alone legends. I think it's a bad idea to try and incorporate one cars style to the other one. Sort of like Dodge/Chrysler, they came up with a front end style and they meshed it into all their models. I can see a shopper at the Chevy dealer saying "Yeah, im lokking at buying a Vette" and the sales man shows them the front of this car, 10 minutes later another comes in and want's to buy a Camaro, so the salesman shows them the rear end of the same car..

First thing I thought of was the price's of classics go for at the BJ auctions, which I know most case's are way over priced, not the best place to see what the market value for older vehicles are
2002p51 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 First thing I thought of was the price's of classics go for at the BJ auctions, which I know most case's are way over priced, not the best place to see what the market value for older vehicles are That's very true, Barrett-Jackson is certainly not indicative of the, real life market in general. But even there on the first day, that usually is not televised, there are some good deals. But remember, I was talking about "driver" quality cars, not the ultra-perfect museum quality cars you typically see at Barrett-Jackson. You can still buy really good, fun cars from the '50s and '60s for a lot less than you have to pay for the current crop of boring cars at the new car dealership. And then what you have is something unique, different and more fun to drive than every other car coming down the typical street.
martinfan5 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) I can agree with you to a point, I wouldn't want to drive one as a daily driver though, to me its more of a weekend car. Been driving the camo C7 in GT5, Chevy and PolyPhony Digital have been working together on this , it was made avaible a few weeks ago, did a lap around the ring, I have to say, it drives better then C6 I used racing soft tires for more grip, so that time is not with stock tires and some speed test Edited December 12, 2012 by martinfan5
robiwon Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) The taillights looking similiar to the new Camaro is called brand identification. The same style are also being used on the redesigned Malibu. It used to be the grille area that was similiar on a companies cars, like Dodge is doing with the cross hair grill, Pontiac (RIP) with its split grille, BMW with it's twin kidney, Cadillac with its egg crate grill, etc. So Chevy is starting a trend with tail lights. ??? And really, if you can't tell the difference between a Camaro and a Vette, just because they have similiar tail lights, your not really a car guy, even if you only do like classics. Longbox55 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 While the "brand identification" theory sounds good, the Corvette already has its own brand identitiy regarding taillights. If anything, it would make more sense for brand identity to put the flagship Corvette style round taillights on the Camaro than the other way around.

Corvette has always been Chevrolet's "halo car"... no reason to make it look like "part of the family." For all the years it's been in production it's never looked like any other car Chevy sells or shared any typical Chevy styling cues. Why start now? Corvette should have its own distinct styling, IMO, and not be sharing Camaro styling cues. I'm guessing the typical Corvette buyer wants his car to stand apart from the "lesser" Chevies.

Longbox55 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I've never seen a Cobalt steering wheel in any Corvette.
