Mercman Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) That was a color wheel for lighting up your Christmas Tree. It came with red, blue yellow, and green if I remember right. It was also used in car shows to highlight some of the radical Kustom builds. Your small details like the bug sprayer, and such are absolutely genius. Back in 57 we didn't have a garage our car sat outside. Edited December 31, 2012 by Mercman
Harry P. Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 A Christmas tree color wheel! It was used to give color to those shiny aluminum Christmas trees that were oh-so-stylish in the '50s and '60s! My friend who lived two houses down had one of those silver Christmas trees with the color wheel back when we were kids. Pretty cool stuff back then...
Hollywood Jim Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 Right guys !! Yeah, we had one of those silver Christmas trees. It was made out of tiny strips of aluminum foil type stuff. Too cool !! Sounds crazy, but I want another one. I'll bet one with a color wheel would sell for big bucks. . .
gasser59 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Me too. Love the rotating color wheel. I'd like to find one that still works. Are you going to have a beat up cardboard box for the tree too?
Danno Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Cool stuff going on here Jim !!! There's always cool stuff going on in Jim's head!
Hollywood Jim Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the compliments guys !! OK, this one was difficult. I wanted to make a push lawn mower. Some very strange shapes involved......... Come on dude !! Drop the beer and get to work on that lawn.............. . . . . . Edited January 1, 2013 by Hollywood Jim
gasser59 Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Hey Jim, that turned out awesome. It will look really fitting once its painted white. What's next?
Hollywood Jim Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 Hey Jim, that turned out awesome. It will look really fitting once its painted white. What's next? Thanks ! During the next week or so I'll be building small items to put into the diorama. Boxes, tools, junk, etc. . . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Super cool scratch-building. Nice detail to add to the dio. Cheers and happy 2013.
Hollywood Jim Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 More done today: Boxes Rags Etc. Kleenex and white glue. And material and white glue. Boxes of junk. Boxes of tools. The reason this guy can't find time to work on his hot rod is because he has to fix toasters and stuff like that ! . . . .
Hollywood Jim Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 I made some more junk. An old style drill. I made a saw. Here are some things I've been collecting, all painted off-white. . . . .
Chas SCR Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Man all I can say is you are the King of the Diarama stuff! wow
gasser59 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 That stuff rocks Jim. You need a couple of old fishing poles too.
Nitro Neil Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 This is going to be great. Can't wait to see it finished.
vaughn Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Looks great Jim. What are you using to make your junk and stuff ?
Hollywood Jim Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 That stuff rocks Jim. You need a couple of old fishing poles too. Thanks !! Hey a fishing pole is a great idea !! I made one a few years ago. Now I'll have to dig through some boxes and find it ! ( It might take me longer to find it than to build another one.. LOL ) . . .
Hollywood Jim Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Looks great Jim. What are you using to make your junk and stuff ? Thanks ! I use plastic, I have lots of different Evergreen shapes and sizes. I use wood, I found a bunch of model railroad lumber at a junk store. I use paper. Lately I have found paper and cardboard very useful. Like breakfast cereal boxes. It is easy to work with, can be bent around curves and glues and paints up great. . . .
Hollywood Jim Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Starting to place some junk around to see how it might look........ I tried some shading on the workbench. . . . .
