Nick Winter Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 .............Okay not really...................but sort of........................................................................................ Bought this bel air in the condition of the first four pictures below from a friend and member here Howard Cohen at the Ajax 32 show back in October. It was so Different I couldn't pass it up. Shortened the axles, parts boxed the wheels, tires and wheel backs, parts boxed the engine, 427 BB from a Revell '68 Vette. After some primer. Posing with my '57 150 TMP car Nick
Custom Mike Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Now this will be different! A monster '57 Chevy has never entered my sick little mind, I'm gonna enjoy this one Nick!
vintagercr Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Nock, that is going to be quite different. I like the Toronto Police car. Steve Nick not Nock
impcon Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 (edited) I'm not much into monster trucks and such, but it you'll have the only one on the block for sure. Having said that, I really do like the police car! That's a nice build! Edited December 24, 2012 by impcon
Clemi Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Wow, that looks nice. Which primer do you use?
hemi Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Now this gives me an ideal for the amt 57 body I have thats had the engine bay removed. great progress on it so far.
Nick Winter Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Thanks guys, The Toronto Metro car I built last year, won a second place last year at the show that I bought this kit at this year. I use Duplicolor's Light Grey primer, always have. as for the tires I tried every set of tires I own on this car, I had to compromise, these were the best I had, everything was either too small or too big, I even whacked a bit out of the springs and I still had the same problem. Nick
Nick Winter Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Thanks Jim, little update, got some paint on it, and got the 427 together. Paint still needs cleared then polished. Nick
crazyjim Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Oh Nick. You know how much I like SHINY :) . Looks killer!
rustybill1960 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Awesome job Nick!! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
charlie8575 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 nice paint job. I was just thinking the same thing. I'm not sure if Matador Red/Onyx Black was factory or not (I'm seriously going to check), but that does look nice on that car. I'll admit, I'm not too into the concept, but this is going to be a nice build when done. Charlie Larkin
Nick Winter Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Had paint issues ended up stripping it, went with a slightly different black, it's called Nighthawk Black Pearl, it actually changes color between blue and black, and has a blue metal flake. Still need to polish it out. and BMF it (Why do I constantly build 50's Chrome Monsters) Nick
Custom Mike Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 OK Nick, spill it, who makes the killer Nighthawk Black Pearl? I want a bunch of it, that's gonna be a beautiful color when it's all polished out!
Nick Winter Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 OK Nick, spill it, who makes the killer Nighthawk Black Pearl? I want a bunch of it, that's gonna be a beautiful color when it's all polished out! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner Mike, it is a Duplicolor, Color, Honda color actually. Nick
charlie8575 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I must say, it's shaping up rather nicely Nick. Charlie Larkin
rmvw guy Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Wow! Not what I was expecting, "Just another '57 Chevy". I never will get bored with '57s but, this is not just out of the box, it's out of the ball park and I love it!
Platerpants Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Now this will be different! A monster '57 Chevy has never entered my sick little mind, I'm gonna enjoy this one Nick! ive seen one before my dad took the mpc? bronco monster truck chassis and put it under a 56 monogram belair. Thats back when his imagination worked. Now its just stock street or drag with scratch parts. He did use the amt 57 chevy's class of 57 decals on it. but his 57 is stock.
