Dr. Cranky Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Don't know if you have seen them, but there are five American Muscle Cars in the series, and they are BEAUTIFUL. Of course, they are releasing them after the FOREVER stamps go up in price in February. Just thought I'd alert all the stamp collectors who are also model builders. What are the chances of that combination? Cheers, DC
Harry P. Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Where did you see them? I can't find any pictures online.
The70judgeman Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Searched a little bit and found no pics, but from what I found they'll be the '66 GTO, '67 Shelby GT500, '69 Dodge Charger Daytona, '70 HEMI 'Cuda, and '70 Chevelle.
Nitro Neil Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 No pix from USPS yet Harry, they come out in February as part of the "America On the Move" series that the USPS has been doing since around 2005. Here's what on the list: 1966 Pontiac GTO 1967 Shelby GT 500 1969 Dodge Charger 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle
Dr. Cranky Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 But how did Virgil see them? AH, DOCTOR CRANKY HAS HIS WAYS . . . . Nah, they had them in a poster at the post office and I saw it today when I was mailing you your brand new Lab-RAT-ory Mug and "Idea Juice" Paint Mixing Shot Glass!

Tom Geiger Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Just thought I'd alert all the stamp collectors who are also model builders. What are the chances of that combination? Hey I identify with that remark. I've been a stamp collector about 40 years. The big difference between model builders and stamp collectors is that stamp collecting is that nobody tells you that you have more stamps than you will ever be able to use! The parallel is that stamp collectors are equally concerned that the young aren't entering their hobby and it's becoming an old mans game. I don't get involved in stamp collecting as I did in the 1970s. I don't belong to clubs or go to shows. I don't follow current stamp offerings, and since they're so plentiful and of questionable subject matter, I just don't have an interest. My own collection is classic issues of the 19th and early 20th century.
The70judgeman Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) Might have to pick these up and frame them and add it to the picture collection for the future "man cave". Just some more eye candy on the wall along with the models. Edited January 6, 2013 by The70judgeman
charlie8575 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I have a small stamp collection. This will be a must-have set for me. Thanks for the heads-up. Charlie Larkin
Tom Geiger Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Here's a hobby cross over piece from my stamp collection. This is an airmail envelope mailed in 1929 from the REO Motor Car Company to California. I love this old historical stuff, aside from it coming from REO, it was transported in an old prop plane like Lindberg's across the country. If it could only talk!
gwolf Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Just got a small package in the mail with those car stamps. You're right, they are fantastic!
Quick GMC Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I have never even had any interest in stamps, or cared what they were, but I found these at the post office. I saw them and said "Hey, I'll take those ones!"
Harry P. Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 USPS ought to sell posters of all of those! which was first ? Look at the denominaton. The higher, the newer.
Greg Myers Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 USPS ought to sell posters of all of those! They did on the early ones
clovis Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I still collect stamps...not very actively...I have a few Scott albums needing attention.
Hollywood Jim Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Wata'ya mean you couldn't find a picture of them............... .
charlie8575 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 If they made those in poster form, I'd buy one/each. In the meantime, I'll probably grab a book. Charlie Larkin
