nitro_force_fan
So are these AWB cars supposed to have straight axels or just a standard k member? Cant seem to really find any pics.........Joe
iBorg
You need to do research on the front ends. Some used stock front end. Some removed the K members (less common) while some used straight axles (from the Dodge A100 like the Little Red Wagon) with the stock K members. Steve Prideaux
Joe, All of the original Factory backed cars, had the K-members moved forward. There were a large number of independent racers, that used the straight axle front end. The Landy car was a factory built car. Steve Prideaux. cooltoys1
mmmmmm, Sourdough Nibblers., umm oh yeah, What you have is the Speed City Resin kit, it is made to be used with the parts from the Lindberg 64 Dodge Super Stock kits. That kit has everything you will need, except if you go with injection.

gtx6970
In my diggings. I think it was when the private teams/owners started modifiyng there own cars for the AFX class is when I think the straight axles started showing up. I don't remember ever seeing any pics of the Landy 65 car with a straight axle under it. 'ALL' of the factory built cars were moved ft and rear suspension retaining the K-frame control arm layout. PS,all the factory built cars were hardtops, Most (but not all ) of the private built cars were sedans
nitro_force_fan
I have the Ross Gibson Hillborn injected Hemi im using for this kit. Id like to get some taller injestion stacks for it. Anyone know wher i can get some?....Joe
Mooneyzs
This is going to be a great build. It's off to a great start.
caine440
Speed city has the stacks you need. I just ordered a set myself for the same build.
Alan
Joe, If you notice on most Mopar drag cars that still retained the leaf springs, as in the "Super Stock springs" they rarely if almost never used a traction aid other than a pinion snuber. That setup is still very effective to this very day.......
caine440
That is not a Speed city casting as the Speed City casting has the door frame . http://www.speedcityresin.com/MoparPage.htm My guess is it is a MCW casting as it looks alot like the 65 Sedan AWB I have. I could be wrong. Did it come with a 4 head light grille or just a 2 headlight grille?
caine440
Joe What wheels are you going to use if you build it as a Landy car? I have seen several different combos and am not sure what to go with. I have a cool magazine article where he is doing tire testing and the car is running Cragars.
gtx6970
I just looked thru all my AFX cars pictures. And I didn't find one single picture of the Landy car with a vent wing frame but every one has a frame around the door glass. I DID find a few of the Sox and MArtin Paper Tiger 1 car that had the vent wing frames. I still think this is a cool picture . If I cound find the truck cab, I might considering attempting this in scale .
gtx6970
Eye candy And you can see in some pictures it has the blue tinted glass, and in others it has clear glass, when which was which , I have no idea. I am pretty sure the car restored today has clear glass. ps, I also just noticed some pictures it has a 2 headlight grille and in some it has a 4 headlight grille. RAT-T
I HEARD THEY USE TO ADD LEAFS TO THE REAR SPRINGS FROM THE AXLE TUBE FORWARD TO ACT AS TRACTION BARS, I JUST DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY STARTED DOING THIS
dragcarz
Chrysler also used Pinion Snubbers, this was a bracket that bolted to the top of the third member with a rubber snubber that would contact with the floor pan under hard acceleration, acting like a lever, planting the tires harder onto the ground. nitro_force_fan
Heres an update on my AWB. Got it all primered and ready to sand. Its really great quality and doesnt need any putty. Just needs a light sanding. Question is what grade should i use? I have 800,1000, and 200 grit. And as far as the motor goes its a Ross Gibson injected 426 Hemi. I know they say to primer resin put some of the parts are so darn small how the heck do you do it? Any ideas?.Heres a couple of pics
W-409
Looking very good! I really like the subject on this, and you are off to a good start. Keep it coming. For the sanding, I would use 1000 grit paper which works the best for me. And if you use Enamel Paints, like Revell and Humbroll, you need no primer for the resin parts. But if you have somekind of other paint planned and they need primer, I'd like to hear it too.
Alan
If using the RG engine do NOT use the front accessories, alt, pwr steering pump etc, get a 426 finned timing cover and use a belt and pulleys with injection pump, with alt. optional ....... By removing the filler cap/dipstick tube off of the power steering pump, you could make that into the injection pump .......
