Jared Roach Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Well I started this a little bit ago but never posted it. This is my first big scale kit ever and so far I'm liking it. I couldn't leave it stock so I found some tires, modified the suspension and this is where it sits now. The rear wheels I increased the diameter because they were too small for the lips. They need a little more work but they fit alot better. and what I'm thinking for colors. Off white for the wheels and sides of the car, and rootbeer for the rest of the body.
Casey Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 This really is a great kit. So far so good on yours, Jared.
Bonekrosha Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Is that one of the German Bug Kits? Looking good so far.
RAT-T Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 LOOKS GREAT SO FAR JARED, HAVE ONE OF THESE KITS MYSELF
Tired of kit bashing Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Cool! I have one of these kits and looking to either make a f/c or a gasser out of it, but its now a BBP(back burner project). Your off to a good start Jared...........
Harry P. Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 That's a really cool kit, I have it, too... halfway built (mine will be a "rat bug"). I like where you're going with yours!
Jordan White Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 How well is this kit going together so far? I'm planning to get one to build a replica of my friend's '52 and am hoping that it goes together as well as the Tamiya Beetle.
Jared Roach Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Thanks guys, it's the revell of Germany kit. So far it's going together pretty good. The doors take a bit of work to align properly but I think I got them adjusted correctly. Edited January 25, 2013 by Jared Roach

CDA Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Well, Thought I'd step outside the truck model box, and see what you guys have to offer! BUGS!!!!! I am obsessed with them! I built this one in Germany in 95. It fits together very well!! The drop is awesome looking and those colors will look cool!!! You gonna de chrome it? or keep the chrome trim!?
ningoth4 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I am a huge VW fan, so I am looking forward to seeing what you do with this kit. What kit are you sarting with? I have tons of 1/24th an 1/25th scale kits and one 1/20th scale, and also some 1/35th scale, but none this big. And I love that it is a split! Nice panscrapper stance as well. Kevin
Jordan White Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 He's using the Revell of Germany 1/16 VW Beetle, I think they just rereleased it so it's easy to find.
AzTom Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Cool! I need to stay away from here, lol This is another on my Bucket list. I had a real 56 VW back in the day.
Jared Roach Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Thanks everyone, I got the off white base coat on the shell, the doors/hood need some more work and then there next.
mr.grumpy Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I like the fact that you used some spoons to test the color before you decided to spray the car.
Custom Hearse Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Any updates on yours? I want to see how it goes, and possibly get some ideas. I'd like to do mine as a 70's style Cal bug.
Darren B Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) cant wait for updates on this build, love the v dubs...............bought the same kit but had to buy another one as the first one the body had some warpage so i dunk the body in hot water and the top back halve of the roof caved in, very thin and brittle but wanting to see how yours comes out before i decide which way to go on mine.............
