krazyglu Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Not suprised at all you have a clean model ,but 24 hours......That is insane Tommy.
worldgpfan Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 nice job with the build, i could not even imagine trying to build anything in 24 hours.
acmiaz Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Nice Job! That no easy task I think I would need a couple weeks at best. I still thing the aeroback MC was the best looking cup car
Heartattaq Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 amazing job, better than I could do in a month of sundays. Didn't mean to sound snide about the window net, was a serious question as I havent built any early model stock cars, and very few newer models, so I did not want to assume I knew. Anyhow great build, and love the idea of doin it in 24 hours, setting challenges like that can take the monotony out of a build.
JMChladek Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) Ohhh my, only way I might have tried something like this would have been with a Michael Waltrip Bahari Racing Pennzoil Pointiac since it had fewer contingency sponsors! DANG good job for a 24 hour build. So are you seeing weird mirages now due to the sleep deprivation? Edited February 5, 2013 by JMChladek
VERNON Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Tommy, I gotta ask the obvious question. What flavor Ice Cream is that??? Just kidding, great looking build. Tim was truley one of the greats that never had chance to really prove himself, what a loss. Great looking build, keep up the great work. Vernon
Dragline Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Hot Dang! Got Er Done! Great build for 24 hrs that's for sher!!! Bob
roadhawg Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 Thanks, guys! It ain't perfect for sure, but it was fun to build a model in 24 hours. I've been a truck driver for the best part of 37 years, so going without sleep ain't really nothing new. I did get pretty drowsy around the 2:30 AM area, but a couple hours nap fixed it! By the way, I don't know why I titled this the '86 Monte Carlo....it's actually the '87 version....Tim's last ride. Thank goodness most of those contengencies were grouped together! If I had to apply them one by one, I'd probably still be decaling! That's my favorite flavor ice cream, lol. And yes, you right about Tim...he would've been one of the greatest.
shafer Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I thought I built them fast in taking a couple or three days gr8 job
doggie427 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Great build Tommy. It's hard to do anything for 24 hrs. but building a kit (with decals !) in one day is a great accomplishment.

hooterville75 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Tim was a great guy. I raced karts with Tims brother Tom at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia when I raced the Enduro Series with the World Karting Association. Right off the Inwood exit on 81. Great guy. Would help anyone with anything if you simply asked for his help.
