freakshow12 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 well guys, I am waiting on final paint to cure on my 50 ford truck wip (go check it out if you have not seen it) . I was at the hobby shop yesterday and my 57 ford came in so I picked it up. I had a vision of what this car should be for a long time so I busted it out this morning and got to work. this thing had to have stance, a cool wheel/tire combo and lots of power while maintaing the look of a slick old ford. Its going to be black for sure. for power I had a 427 cammer sitting here so I think thats what its getting OR it may get a GT500 mill. what do you guys think? It may get a tan interior or red have not decided. tell me what you guys think? I had to cut the rear wheel wells for mini tubs which meant a new rear frame section. thats all mocked up and the ride hight is set. the frame and everything is under it at this point all mocked up so no surprises later. thats how I build, assemble it all then blow it apart for paint then rebuild it all. maybe thats why I only get a few builds done a yr. enjoy
Blown03SVT Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 The stance and wheels are right on. I myself think the SOHC is a better choice of motivation. The look you have so far reminds me of a Bobby Alloway cutom.
Bartster Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 That's pretty close to my vision of this beauty as well ! I say go with the cammer. Been following your '50 truck, if this looks anything like it, you got another winner ! Bart
vintagedragfan Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 sits nice, I think it's perfect, wheels are all so very cool
freakshow12 Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 thanks guys! I will be keeping the 427 in it. the interior will be fairly stock but I will be using a few techniques I have used on other projects to make it pop. its going to be a tan based gut. body is prepped for primer now. I hope to have some color on soon then I will get going on the chassis while its setting up.
Geno Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I'm liking your vision. This bad boy is gonna rock.
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Perfect so far. Stance is dead on. ....... the frame and everything is under it at this point all mocked up so no surprises later. thats how I build, assemble it all then blow it apart for paint then rebuild it all. maybe thats why I only get a few builds done a yr. The right way, just like building a real one. Saves a lot of grief in the end.
freakshow12 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 I got the first primer coats on the body. it required very minimal cleanup. I got some filler on my rear frame section I had to make. I will have some pics of my progress once I get home from the rink
crazyrichard Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 nice job and yes mock up in modelcarbuilding is def. a must just like irl hehehe
modelguy45 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 got mine need to start as soon as i finish up 2 wip builds love the wheel /tires stance is right on
Jantrix Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I think the ease or difficulty of running the headers for the cammer are going to be your biggest hurdle. I like what I see so far.
freakshow12 Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Headers are handled. Rear dump block huggers I had laying around. Have not much ground clearance for long tubes
freakshow12 Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 got some primer on it. still working on new rear end but its coming. started on the interior too. pics of that tonight
freakshow12 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 few interior pics. saddle tan with a ford king ranch saddle leather look insert. it takes a while to make that look. Its kind of a distressed red/brown. I have used it on a few builds.
freakshow12 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 door panel. still have foiling etc to do
