wrecker388 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Looking very nice. If only it were SHINY :) . Are those the kit tires? I have 2 of the kits and the tires are blackwalls even though the box says tampo printed whitewalls. You can request the new tampo printed tires from Revell. And Andy I love where this one is going. Thanks for the brainstorm.
exesivefire Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 I guess I hadn't even noticed the tires were supposed to have white walls outta the box
wrecker388 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Yeah, me neither until I heard it mentioned on here.
exesivefire Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 started to foil the upper beltline and window trim, decided I didnt like it and peeled it off.if it was a 1:1 car I could paint the trim black, so thats what it will be here too.
exesivefire Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 making progress on the engine detail this morning.
1930fordpickup Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) This looks great ! I love the color. Just wondering how do you keep your bench so clean! Edited February 24, 2013 by 1930fordpickup
exesivefire Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 I'm pretty meticulous about keeping it clean in there. Have a few hobbies so it can get outta control quickly. It's a little messy for me at the moment if you would believe that. I find I spend more time organizing than building sometimes, however that lets me focus on my builds when I get going.
Albie D Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 This thing is sick. I like the stance, and white interior. Great engine detail, its almost a shame to cover it with the big dual quad air cleaner. Still way cool regardless.
exesivefire Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 thanks for the kind words, I'm still not 100% sure on that air cleaner, but I kinda like it for the options I have here. Since we brought it up, I thought it would be fun to share my workshop. It is a mess right now, Its in desperate need of a re organization.
exesivefire Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Well I gave the window trim and beltline trim another shot, dcided I liked it this time. threw the windows in, and while they were drying I started assembly on the interior.
exesivefire Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) front window wont let the body rest in place and is hitting the dash *edit, got it fixed I think by shaving the dash. That was a little tedious since it was assembled and painted. Edited February 25, 2013 by exesivefire
AzTom Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 That is so Cool! I love the Satin black and wide whites.
Olskoolrodder Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 LOVING the Olds build (LOTS!),but seeing those Axials in your workshop got me all excited (I have a Ridgecrest and SCX10 Jeep Rubicon)
exesivefire Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Yeah, my modeling hobby kinda crashed into my RC hobby, and I've built quite a few scale RC crawlers or trail rigs.
Custom Hearse Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 front window wont let the body rest in place and is hitting the dash *edit, got it fixed I think by shaving the dash. That was a little tedious since it was assembled and painted. Good to know about the dash! Do you have a pic of how much you shaved off it?
Olskoolrodder Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) Yeah, my modeling hobby kinda crashed into my RC hobby, and I've built quite a few scale RC crawlers or trail rigs. LOL,I feel ya! I raced nitros back in the late 90's,started getting back into RC a month ago, have the 2 crawlers (I run em on mtn bike trails mostly),a pair of budget offroaders for the pair of kids (ECX Boost buggy and Torment SCT) and I've just started racing again, electric SCT (Short Course Trucks for those that don't know) with a pair of Team Associated SC10's,a 4wd and 2wd....EASY to get hooked on the hobby (especially around tax refund season That's all the hijacking I'll do,though, looking forward to seeing more of the Olds Edited February 28, 2013 by Olskoolrodder
exesivefire Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Good to know about the dash! Do you have a pic of how much you shaved off it? Had to shave most of the lip off the front, and I raised the windshield as high as I could, I'm sure I had to do something wrong, I haven't seen anyone else have issue?
exesivefire Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 hood is back in the primer then paint stage, I missed some sink marks by the hinge area
Randy D Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Hi Andy, You've got this one looking awesome with that paint job!! The foiling is outstanding, glad you decided to do that. Randy
