The Modeling Hermit Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 This is my latest creation; a White Western Star. It's built mostly box stock except for lengthening the chassis, extending and altering the sleeper, adding fuel and plumbing lines, adding interior detail, changing to duel exhaust, adding rear fenders, and adding rear loading lights. Paint is Champagne Gold and Flat Black with a three coat overspray of Florida Roadstar Orange over both colors.
kilrathy10 Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 That looks nice for sure....Way to work the paint skills, Man...
freightshaker Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 That's a keeper man, that paint came out great!
slusher Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Great looking truck, i love the paint and colors, sweet..
olsbooks Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Very nice. Bending that exhaust must have been tricky. VERY NICE. What is the secret for getting those irritating side mirror together clean and squared like you did? Do you make a jig to hold everything? Love the big sleeper.
The Modeling Hermit Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 The side mirrors were built by placing the top bars on first and letting them dry completely, and then building down from there; one piece at a time. The stacks are very well known to everybody. They are simply cut down Ford L series, stuck in the Western Star's muffler. They sure look better than the stock Ford units.
Old Albion Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Wow! What a difference the longer frame makes and those colours are superb. Very nice!
Chuck Most Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Best build up of this kit I've seen yet. That color scheme just looks so right on it.
Jim B Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Great looking White Western Star! Let's go truckin', eh!
72 Charger Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Thats one of the nicest western stars Ive ever seen well done colours look great
Jim Whalen Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Hi, Really nice build of a tricky kit. I like the way you said mostly box stock - looks to me like you've done a lot with this kit! Good idea with the paint and its turned out great. Cheers, Jim
Guest Johnny Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Love it! As a kid and all my years trucking I don't believe I ever saw any two Western Stars alike! They were all different and reflected I would guess the owner / driver's personality!
Truck parts Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Love what you did,and great paint job.Very nice colors you painted it. NICE
highway Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Doug, I didn't notice if you had said or not, but are the wheels on yours what comes in the kit?? I have an old wrecker that I used to drive that I plan to build from this kit and the front Alcoa/rear spokes is the setup it had.
The Modeling Hermit Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 The wheels are kit supplied. I'm looking foreword to seeing your wrecker.
