Gluebomber Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 This is the Aoshima 1/12 kit with the Hobby Design detail set. The p/e engine details are painted Alclad Copper. Paint is House of Kolor Cinnamon Pearl. All comments, positive and negative, are welcome. Thanks for looking!
crazyjim Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Really a nice, clean, and SHINY :) build. Unfortunately, it's just a metric bike.
jaydar Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 You did a great job on that one. Aoshima has several boxings of that kit, i think. Which one did you use??? thanks, Joe.
Gluebomber Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks, Guys for the kind words. Joe, the kit I used was the Vmax 1200, No. 30 in the Naked Bike series. I got it in 2003, so I'm not sure if they're still around, but I doubt there's very much difference among the versions. Here's a link to a picture of the box from my kit: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10011072 Hope this helps!
HGLOVAL Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Very nice. I'm building my first bike now. It's Tamiya's 1/12 scale 900s Ducati. Does anyone know or have suggestions on how to make the exhaust? The seam lines go right down the middle of the mufflers so you can imagine the problem with seam lines on chrome where its totaly visible. Would even consider aftermarket pipes, but I'm not familiar with bikes yet.
Gluebomber Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 Jim, I built a 900SS a couple of years ago. I stripped the chrome from the exhausts, glued the muffler halves together, sanded the seams, and refinished with Alclad Chrome. I attached some pics below. Hope that helps!
krazyglu Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Larry that Ducati is awesome looking, I just built the Mike Hailwood replica and did the exact same thing as you on the exhaust pipe's......your's look better haha ,but I will get it on the next one.
