Mercman Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 This idea is floating around in my head. Gonna do a 1/87th scale slot track shop. Here is a pic of the actual track. Going to start on the track construction today.
crazyrichard Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 thats a cool track !! , idea is awsome so i'm curious !!
Mercman Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Okay change in plans. I did a different building than what I had pictured before. Next up was some minor construction, and pre-placement of the track design. Then it was time to construct the track. And then to place it inside. Now I have to do the inside walls, and interior pieces.
Jim B Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 An HO scale slot track in HO scale. Now that's pretty cool. How big would the cars actually be?
Mercman Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 An HO scale slot track in HO scale. Now that's pretty cool. How big would the cars actually be?Not that great at math, but 1" = 7'3" in full size.
crazyrichard Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 ooh i thought that was your track and you where going to add buildings to it this is also very cool , good job on making the track ... must be fidely on that scale
Mercman Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 The worst part was getting all of the bracing for the guardrail cut. Lots of little squares of plastic. Then the guard rails were a bit tight in some places also.
disabled modeler Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 COOL... wish they would make things like this in 1/25th or 1/24th scale
Mercman Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Update on this one. The build was too small for the track so am scratch building a bigger building to house it in. Also I wiil be adding a drag strip tack for it, and who knows what else.
Mercman Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Pretty much have the new building done. Just have to do the doors. Here are a couple of pics of it. Here you can see the track has more room, and will be adding a drag strip in the back. Now it will be time to design the interior for it.
Austin T Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 That's really cool. Anytime I see a slot car track in an old building I think of that restaurant "Jack Rabbit Slim's" from Pulp Fiction. That would be a cool place to build in scale.
dannyi Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ..too cool Junior! ...love all these detail projects you create!
kalbert Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Careful with your models of models.... http://xkcd.com/878/ Edited March 24, 2013 by kalbert
Draggon Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Funny meetin' ya overhere Jr. Dig that diorama, but you know That track was huge in full scale, 220 ft.
Mercman Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Found some pics on the web for interior shots. Also got the dragstrip built, ( no pics of it yet). The bottom panorama pic I will be cutting down to use only parts of it.
Mercman Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Well the drag strip is built, and 2 guys are just itching to try it out. Also got the other track painted. Now its time to start detailing the interior.
Mercman Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 I like it, I like it! Charlie Larkin Charlie you'll love this then. Case is stocked, and track is busy.
Mercman Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Got some of the interior signage done. Also started to add some stock, and shelves. The red, and gray bench will be the pit area for working on the cars. Have to add some electrical outlets yet to it. Finally a start on the sign for the shop. Needs to be framed out yet.
Mercman Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Tonight I got the sign framed. Added outlets to the work station area. And a couple of building shots. Have to add the glass, and the doors yet.
