glenn Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 not sure if anyone remembers the 6 rotor from awhile ago,it's now running and has had it's first initial dyno tune.Result is 813HP@wheels on pump gas
TheRX7Project Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Rotary love! Assuming it's bridgeported, by the idle... How many RPM are your revving to?
JM485 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Wow, 800+ at the wheels!!! That it crazy. What type of motor is that, it sounds pretty crazy?
charlie8575 Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Wow, 800+ at the wheels!!! That it crazy. What type of motor is that, it sounds pretty crazy? That care is a Mazda RX-2 or 3 (I'm not sure) running a Wankel Rotary engine, the same type of engine used in the RX-7/8 sports cars. Very potent engines when they're built and maintained properly. vintagedragfan Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 huh! a rotary engine, who woulda thunk it! that thing sounds nasty!! way cool
moparmagiclives Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I wonder if the guy in the car got bored watching the tach climb and climb waiting for it to stop making power lol
Scott Colmer Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I grew up on rotary cars. That one is an RX4. Sounds just incredible!
glenn Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 This is a street registered rx4 6 rotor periheral ported,basicly 3 x 13b engines joined together,813 was at 9000rpm
Cool Hand Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Hmmmm, Sounds half decent, even if it is a chook cooker.
glenn Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Sounds unbelievable in person, you need earplugs at idle, imagine this at 9000rpm under load
Cool Hand Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) Yeah it does sound good at idle. Not being a smart ass or anything like that. But I rather prefer the sound of a V8 at high revs any day.Especially one built by Nelson Racing Engines. Dont get me wrong, I do give credit to the work that has gone into the engine and its performance figures. But it may be labeled as street registered but that doesnt necessarily make it street legal. It wouldnt last 5 minutes on the street where im from, cops would defect it in an instance of seeing and hearing it. Which is kinda irrelevant as I presume the car will be on a drag strip more than the street. Just saying Edited March 23, 2013 by Cool Hand
glenn Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Yeh no chance of being legal here but in NZ it can be,would most likely be muffled up quite abit, car is built purely for the street and will hit the 1/4 but won't be set up for strip only,I really think the engine would excel in a circuit car or dedicated drag car.
Guest Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Crazy! My old RX-7 never sounded like that! Those rotarys will rev forever tho, no valves or rods to throw.

I was wondering if it was actually a rotary engine based off of what you said, I just had no idea they could make that much power. Awesome car!
Mike_G Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I sold my '74 RX4 last year I still have a shed full of old-school rotary car parts
glenn Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 The 6 rotor out on the circuit for initial testing.
