Smart-Resins Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Heres a short story.A year and a half ago while we stille lived in NY we went to the Syracuse Goodguys nationals and naturally enjoyed the mini nats. While there they had the kiddie build consisting of the Revell's snap tight PT Cruiser. My daughter got hers together faster then anyone else there. She was very pleased with it. That was her first experience with models. After getting home she decided she wanted to paint it a metal flake green.Well it was her first attempt and she did a horrific job.It was curled, alligatored, bubbled the whole nine yards! Shortly there after we boxed it up and came to TN.After doing a motorcycle, previously sowed here and currently working on a nomad pro-stock(kit bash/scratch build) she has decided she wanted to redo it.So Friday night it went into the Purple Power.Satyurday it cam out and she cleaned it and primed it.Sunday she painted it and put the decals on it.Now all she has to do is to paint the details on the chassis and interior and she will be done.I must say she is getting a handle on the painting part.A little more work, but she is doing a great job.Well anyways, Ill let the pics do the talking. She is also working on a daytona kit we just picked up for $2.00 recently at Wally world and her low rider Mustang she got for her Birthday.Just doing my part at trying to keep the hobby alive!
Luis Ayala Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the paint looks really smooth!!!!!!!!!!! was it rattle can or airbrushed???? Keep us posted on the other two projets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is doing a GREAT job!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter is working on a "Chezoom" and a small scale space ship too.
Smart-Resins Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 Dupont rattlers is what we tend to use. This is the left overs from her bike. She entered the bike in a show in the spring and won 1st place in that catagory. She did a much better job painting this and she hopes to enter it in the same show this fall providing we get the replacement tailights in time from a gracious member here.I think she will do quite well indeed. I love to see what the kids do.Sometimes when I go to shows I end up a little disappointed in some of the bad models there, and hope the kids find the right modeler to teem up with to excell with.I know where my daughter will be going as long as she stays in it.Lord knows about them teen years to come!!Your daughter must be having a blast working on the chezoom!!

That is a beautiful job for a rattle can!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am confident she has a winner in her hands... My congrats to both of you... I know what you are talking about, I have two kids and both build a model or two through the year. Is great to see them focusing on something else rather than television or a videogame once in a while. We really enjoy building something together and beleive me, there is nothing in this world that can be as rewarding as the smile on their faces, when the las piece is glued in... Like you said, "Lord knows about them teen years to come!!" but untill then I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride... Keep up the good work and don't forget those pics on the other projects!!!!!!!!!
