Edsel-Dan Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 As stated, I found a Chrome Straight-6 engine in a box of parts I got today. I do not recall any kit with one. Anyone here have an idea?? Yea, I know, PIC's!!!!! Sorry, Just got the Engine, and as I take all Pic's Outside, Wind is Too strong. Maybe tomorrow, Wind depending.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 My first guess is that it's from one of the chrome-plated Monogram classic kits from days of yore.
drball Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I think one of the Pontiac OHV sixes was chrome in one of the early MPC or AMT Firebird releases.
Psychographic Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 The Daytona Transport comes with a chrome 6.
Edsel-Dan Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 (edited) Definitely Not from a 30's Classic!! Got some pic's but not on the table. Had to hold it. And had trouble logging in to p-bucket to upload and post. Right side; Left side; Valve Cover; Oil Pan; And Definitely Not from the Daytona transport. Isn't that one a Front drive?? I see a Standard type tranny on this Edited April 17, 2013 by Edsel-Dan
Modelbuilder Mark Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Good looking motor, nice piece in a custom.
Jantrix Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 It's from the AMT 1962 Ford Falcon kit. That was my thought too. It's definitely not a Chevy.
Edsel-Dan Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 Thanks for the info. Not sure about trading it though. Since I have one of the Hot-Rod/Street Machine Ranchero kits with the hood opened and the 'Chevy' engine, and you say this is from an Original Annual AMT 62 Falcon, I may have to put it in that!! It would be correct. Or how about in a 66 Mustang??
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yup, same idea. I've got a Falcon kit with no engine, wanted to do a replica of one of my dad's cars. Trying to get a line on a resin copy, but if that flames out, would you even consider letting me copy yours ? I can easily deal with "no" by the way, and would understand completely.
Edsel-Dan Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 That is Not a bad idea. (AS long as I got it back!) There is not fan, but that is no big deal. They can be found in Many kits after all!! And what does the air cleaner look like?? There was no chrome one in the parts the engine was in. Would you want it as is, or dis-assembled?
