High octane Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 This is the cover car for the Oct. 1959 issue of Hot Rod Magazine which Monogram Models had copeid and added a few parts of their own such as fenders, head & tail lights, windshield, up-top, and rear bumper. They called their kit the Green Hornet. I used Testors Mystic Emerald for the body, Spaz-Stix for the wheel backs, vinyl inserts for the interior over white, and added a dash panel w/gauges, as well as screening for the grille opening.
High octane Posted April 16, 2013 Author Posted April 16, 2013 Thanks for the comments guys. This was a "simple" kit but and "old favorite" and I enjoyed building it.
TooOld Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Great looking build Nick ! Simple doesn't make it any less beautiful . Nice job .
lazlow Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 that looks great. I have that kit and I can tell you put a lot of work into to get it that nice.
Tom Geiger Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Very nice replica of the original car. I love that old kit, I have tried that chassis under a bunch of bodies.
Jantrix Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Very nicely done. The gold racing number is outstanding.
