CrazyGirl Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I am hot to get a Cobra but there are many kits and versions , what is the best most detailed one ? 1/25 scale, Thanks
Guest Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Revell has a nice 427 Cobra, and AMT has a nice 289 Cobra.
afx Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 (edited) Here is another one I am working on. They are all built using AMT's 289 as a base kit with some aftermarket parts and scratch building thrown in. Edited August 28, 2015 by afx
carsntrucks4you Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Very got are the Historic Miniatures 289 Cobra of Model Factory Hiro 427., but but are expensive
zenrat Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Get the AMT 289 Cobra. It's a real old mould but it's well engineered and goes together well if you take your time.
W-409 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 If you want to build Street Version of Shelby Cobra, I think the best one is Monogram kit. It comes with an uptop which is optional, and the engine is in Street Condition. The wire wheels in that kit are the best I've seen in this scale, if Photoetch doesn't count. Okay, it's 1/24, but there is IMO absolutely no difference between those two scales. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37691&page=1
cobraman Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 If you want to build a 289 version the AMT is what you want. The newest one the " King Cobra" has some nice upgraded parts. If you want a 427 version the Monogram is the way to go. These would be you cheapest versions and are easy to find. The 289 kit has an opening truck the 427 does not. I have plenty of both and have built several and I think the Monogram is eaiser to build. Also the AMT kit is 1/25 and the 427 is 1/24 scale. If you want a nice kit and don't care about scale I would find the 1/16 scale Cobra. It was issued 3 times. MPC, AMT and ESCI. They are all the same kit and can be found on ebay. I am looking forward to your build. Good luck.
IMSANUT Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I am a fan of both the AMT and Monogram kits. I believe both represent their 1:1 counterparts well. Both are very detailed and build up well. The AMT 260 / 289 is a little fiddly to build, but is an astonishing little kit as far as details go. There are a bunch of different versions of the Monogram kit as far as racing markings are concerned. As to the !/16 MPC Cobra, it is a 427 as well, and offers a bunch of nice features.
CrazyGirl Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 ok I just bought the Monogram Cobra , the one with Carroll's picture on the box , the one you are building and I just dropped a bundle at Scale Dreams , there prices seem a lot better
