Dr. Cranky Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Oh yeah, the Doctor was feeling it the minute he saw the MINI CRAFT MINIATURES kit on sale at SQUADRON HOBBIES. The I saw the Jay Leno episode with his own MOGGY, and I was hooked. There are several video updates over at THE CRANKY SHOW of this build in progress, but here are the completed pictures. Not a kit for beginners, and certainly a challenge for those of you with welding skills. I'd love to see someone make the frame for this one out of brass tubing. That would be so cool. It's a wonderful kit but a bit finicky at times. Enjoy, Crankyheads! The paint is British Racing Green by Tamiya. Even though it looks grainy on these pictures, the paint has been buffed and shined.
Sixx Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 SWEET man!!! I don't think I could even fit in a real one!!!!! LOL!!!!!
cobraman Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Very cool build. You did a heck of a job on her.
Harry P. Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 After watching your progress videos of this model on the Cranky Show, I decided I have to get one of these babies! I'm spending my grocery money on model kits... and I blame you!
Dr. Cranky Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 LOL! Yes, blame it all on me. This is my first 1/16th scale kit and I think I am hooked on these bigger scales.
Sixx Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 LOL! Yes, blame it all on me. This is my first 1/16th scale kit and I think I am hooked on these bigger scales. First biggie???? No way!!!! You made it look real man. Not my kind of " car " but I dig it!!!!!!!!!!!
rmvw guy Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Totally different from the Doc, are you feeling alright? I like it a lot and what a surprise! Nice choice of color and another beautiful build from the laboratory. Congrats.
jeffs396 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Nicely done Virgil! I could see you weathering one of those, and transplanting a 1/12 Revell V-twin (or two ) onto it for extra ponies
heinz74 Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 nice clean build Doctor!..and yeah in bigger scale everything even looks better up close..speaking of which how long is this kit in total..cause i have no idea what the size of a real Morgan is...it looks small(ish) as a kit
Dyno Davo Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Yep, very cool subject. Wondered what one would look like. What about a ratrod version me wonders
Dr. Cranky Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks, everyone. Yes, this is my first big scale build, and I can see quickly running out of whatever little room I have if I can building them. LOL.
Mooneyzs Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Virgil... this is totally cool. Nice work on this one.
PBII Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 i have this kit and now i know how it should look like when its done right - perfection as always nice one Doc
sjordan2 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Beautiful work. Is that the kit chrome? Welcome to the world of 1/16. I think you'll especially like what you can do with the Model A kits (but I cringe to think what you'd do with the classic luxury cars!!)
bryan_m Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 oh wow!! how the heck did i miss this one?? that is beautiful virgil! very nice work man! now tell me, what is it? bryan_m Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 minicraft has some nice kits, the lhs has a beautiful 1/16th scale lincoln by minicraft, i think i might get it, and do it all stock, nice and shiney black! it already has opening doors and stuff, all it would need is a killer paintjob, and alot of detail wiring/plumbing.... bryan
