High octane Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Welcome Mark and that is a great kit as I"ve built three of them already and have another one started. I sent the front end and oil pan to the platers to have them chromed and it looks really good on that model. Nice color choice on your build.
vintagedragfan Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 looks great Mark, having fun is what this is all about! keep after it
Chickenfoot Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 It's been a little while, Here's an update. I didn't like the paint job so I sanded it down and reshot it. Finished the interior and the chassis, added the decals and shot the clear coat. Need to wait a couple days for it to dry then polish, add the lights and grill and it's complete. Had alot of fun building this, looks like my next project will be the Protar Yamaha Tenere Paris-Dakar Motorcycle. That's going to be a challenge... Thanks for watching, Mark
OldTimer50707 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Yours looks like a nice clean build. The color is great and the wiring on the engine adds to it. I use Draino Gel to dechrome parts. I usually have to let it set for 24 hours but when I'm done, I pour it down the drain so I get 2 uses out of it. Like with any chemical you need to wear a mask and rubber gloves.
PappyD340 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Welcome to the forum Mark great looking build. Easy off is the ticket for me and it will strip paint extremly well also, bot like Lee said gloves and a mask are a must!!
Ognib Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Nice. I built a willys gasser when I was 12 or 13...back in late 50's early 60's. Up until a couple of years ago, my mom still had it in her memory chest. A popular car to build, it would seem, to have stayed in production for so long.
Chickenfoot Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 All finished, had a lot of fun. Can't wait to start my next model... More pictures posted in the Under Glass section... Mark
