Matt Bacon Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 ...it'll be a while before this one gets going, but I've now at least finally assembled my "kit of parts" for a Singer 911... The "bite the bullet" item is the ScaleProductions RSR body, which has the right shape, right arch flares, more or less, and right retro wide Fuchs wheels. The cheap eBay Carrera 2 provides the 964 chassis. The other two were local charity shop finds for s few quid each, with the Speedster, being an Enthusiast model, providing the starting point for a detailed engine. All of them have interior details to offer, like the right instrument clusters and steering wheel styles. The Singer Recaro seats look nothing like ANY of the options I have here, so they will require some scratch building. The decals give me some choices on colour scheme -- I'm rather liking lurid green or pale grey with the red logo options... So... next question -- what OTHER cool hybrid Porsche can I build with all the OTHER bits I have? ;-) bestest, M.
gwolf Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 All you gotta do now is get workin'! Hope to see an update soon.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Oh yes, the Singer 911s are about the most desirable things on earth to me, at the moment. Do a good job...I'll be watching... Looks like you're pretty serious about this, heavy investment in donors, etc. Bear in mind that Singer will build a car just about ANY way the client wants now, so there's room for individual interpretation too. Very cool.
Modlbldr Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) A Singer Porsche? I didn't think those things had enough room inside to get a sewing machine in there. Must not have a passenger seat, huh? Seriously, Never heard of them. Learning something new today. BTW- Just send me all of the extra parts. I could use them. Later- Edited April 26, 2013 by Modlbldr
