Dr Plastic Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) I would like to do up my 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder in this interior color combination. I would like some recommendations on what color to use. TIA Scott Edited October 14, 2007 by Dr Plastic
ismaelg Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Hello, Model Masters has a few military colors that may help. I used Model Master Interior Tan for this car: ..and I don't remember for sure but this one is either radome tan or a mix of radome tan and interior tan. It is a bit lighter than what you are showing, but there is also a color called Cammo Sand or something like that. Radome tan is even lighter than Interior tan but can be used to lighten up a darker shade. Good luck! Thanks,
ismaelg Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Ismael, love your 308!!! what kit is that?? Thanks James! That's a special and expensive kit that has hundreds of parts and....... NAHHHH..... That's the old Monogram kit. Very simple and very few parts, less that 40. But the body proportions are very nice. Here is a link to the forum post when I did it last year: Ferrari 308 and here is a link to more pictures on my personal page. My Scale Models: Ferrari 308 Thanks!
Trans Am Erik Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 In the past I've used testors light ivory to replicate a tan interior.
MrObsessive Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Tamiya acrylics come in something called "Buff" but I can't remember the number right now. Here's a couple pics of my 'Vette interior that I did in this color.......... HTH!

Izzy, earlier this year I bought a RoG 308 kit, its a very simple curbside kit with plastic axles, is it possible this is the same kit??? from the description of yours, it sounds like it might be.. Zoom Zoom Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 I bought a RoG 308 kit, its a very simple curbside kit with plastic axles, is it possible this is the same kit??? from the description of yours, it sounds like it might be.. Same kit. In fact the new one is nicer than previous versions simply because it's molded in white vs. the previous red (stock) or yellow (race). It's a great kit. Think of it as a bargain resin kit; many resin kits have the same parts count . This is the best looking 308 kit ever made (though I haven't seen the very expensive Fujimi 1/24 resin, which I'll bet is based on this kit...). All the other ones have serious shape issues, and are pretty fiddly as well. Simplicity is highly underrated. Here's mine: Izzy had great taste in colors
ismaelg Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Izzy, earlier this year I bought a RoG 308 kit, its a very simple curbside kit with plastic axles, is it possible this is the same kit??? from the description of yours, it sounds like it might be.. Most likely it is. The kit has around 40 parts, including plastic axles. I am by no means an expert but the other 308 kits I know of are the Revell Magnum which is not the best, Gunze and the Testor's which I believe is related to the Gunze and has opening doors. There is a japanese motorized kit in 1/24 as well with working headlights. Nitto also had one but in 1/28 scale. Thanks,
LVZ2881 Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Bob, Izzy, thanks for the great info!!! sounds like my $10 hobby shop purchase while on vacation in Oregon was well worth it. I actually bought this kit to replicate Magnum's car as I'm a huge Magnum fan.....but I am really liking your blue ones!!!
sjordan Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 (edited) I can't see the picture in your first post, but I assume from the first reply that you're talking abbout a light tan interior. You might check out the detailed photos of 365s on the web page below and the one that follows it (pages 5 & 6). I always thought the tan/black stripe combo was the nicest, and I would guess that natural wood would make a good light tan. http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/sold.php?pg=5 Edited October 14, 2007 by sjordan
Dr Plastic Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 Thanks for the help everyone I settled on Testors MM FS 20400 (which has a nice semi gloss sheen) for the leather surfaces and Testors Acryl Deck tan for the carpeting. I appreciate all the help and sorry about the disapearing picture!
simonr Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 On my suggestion, I have also an observation. If you guys look closely to this Ferrari interior picture, will notice that this italian interior tan, like almost Italian manufacturers, has a little red tint on it. After a lot of research and experiment building my Hasegawa Lamborghini Miura, I tried to replicate this color with some Gunzy Sangyo and Tamiyas tan, a little of flat white, and very important,..a little bit of tamiya's flesh color. I sealed everything after with some semi-gloss acrylic clear. Here's what I got: From the outside On my Ferrari 250GT California Spyder, I used Gunze Sangyo Tan. Simon Rivera
simonr Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I forgot to say, that I painted everything over a white base. I think it's important to talk about it, because, the base, like in any painting, could make the difference. Simon Rivera
