Since Revell gave us a mis-shapen 'Cuda kit, and I appear to have a fetish for really messing up the lines of a 'Cuda, it seems like a fine time to start a new "Barely 'Cuda". I have a general plan for the car, but am looking for suggestions for the Paint Scheme and whether I should do it as a full detail model or another curbside.

While completeing the restoration of the first "Barely 'Cuda" (which is almost done) I saw alot of things I wanted to do different, here is my chance. I'm providing a printable line drawing in case you wish to show your artistic side.

The drawing only represents a very rough outline of the design. the actual car will be substancially different. but the proportions will be similar.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Cool. Looking forward to watching this. If it were mine, which it's not, it would be B5 (or triple black) with some sort of twist on factory AAR stripes. Any more details on your plans? One thing I really, really wanted to do was to incorporate the Callaway Speedster fender/quarter vents into my AMX. I am kicking myself for not doing it and it's not even painted yet, but I just want to get it done and can't afford the setback. These might look good on your Cuda too, just my 2 cents. Keep us posted.

i voted B5 as well...and i agree with the modified aar stripe, or possible a variation on the hockey stick..

and a modern 6.1 hemi would look cool as well, maybe twin turbo..

I trust your judgement. Build it to suit yourself and to surprise and delight the rest of us ;)

You trust my judgement? You are a brave man... seriously I have the design part done, as far as the bodywork and lhe enginering behind ir, but simply have no Idea what color I wnt it to be. So I figured I'd throw a few Ideas out there and see what resonates with my fellow modelers...sort of a focus group. I know I want it to be a Muscle car color, I'm just at a loss to which one.

It really depends on the theme of the overall car, but I think that all black, with a lemon yellow

modified AAR stripe, would be neat, though possibly hard to pull off. ( Cuda with a Lemon Twist?)

(Yellow over black= possibly transparent??(Also may prove hard to photograph.)) or use a green stripe (Cuda with a twist of Lime?)

Another possibility, would be a Creamsicle car= Orange and Vanilla (Vanilla where it would be black).

Or A Halloween theme car Orange and Black

Personally, I like the thought of a Medium to Bright Metallic Blue, like GM Rallye blue or Metal Specks Blue? and a dark gray metallic like Medium Charcoal Metallic.

Or possibly use a dark gray metallic over a maroon metallic.

Or Just build a Barely Cuda II and use the same colors as the first.

or.... Hmmm ....not really helping at all am I ?? Sorry!! :D

Now you know the hell I live. To many Ideas floating in my head to pick just one.

The problem is I can't determine what color best suits someone else's taste. Any one of the combos mentioned can be perfect to a particular person; color schemes are very subjective. I'm not trying to weasel out of choosing so much as I haven't had the time to think them all through, as if it were a project of my own.

Some friends and I were at an Italian car show on Saturday, one of the cars there was a black Ferrari 599 GTB. I would have thought I would have liked the color better, but I didn't. The black paint looked milky/gray-brown in the sunlight just like Testors gloss black enamel (Tamiya gloss black is a true black by comparison). The wheels were painted black, and looked darker than the rest of the car. Yet some people loved the combo. I've seen a Grigio Titanio 599 and by comparison, to me at least, it was perfect on the car. I've seen a red one as well, and I even preferred it over the black...which isn't like me :D Color is so subjective, and dependant on a particular subject, that I can't make a decision on this car for you. I would suggest going with a high-contrast scheme like the first one; dark on top, light/bright on bottom. If you go w/black for the top surfaces think about gloss instead of flat.

Barely 'Cuda II is officially in progress, I have yet to decide on the paint scheme but I have started on the bodywork. Shortly after finishing up Barely 'Cuda I was completed and I had thought I had created the coolest 'Cuda ever, the guys at Johnsons Rod Shop Built their "G-Force 'Cuda" This car with the front fenders moved foward and a pie cut section job, this 'Cuda caught my imagination;

While this is the inspiration for the Barely 'Cuda II build, it won't be a copy of it. Besides not having a roof my version will only share it's basic profile, Hemi engine, and rear transaxle. nearly every detail will be different. these pictures though will give you an idea of the "attitude" I'm shooting for. In a few days when I've got the details roughed in I'll post pictures of the actual build in the "On the bench" section of the board.
