sfhess Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Here's a link to my Fotki site for GSL 24, held last weekend. Pictures of probably all the models on display, plus some of the modelers who attended. http://public.fotki.com/Scott-F-Hess/gsl24photos/
vintagedragfan Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 The GSL website has the awards presentation pics up http://www.gslchampionship.org/gsl24winners/GSL%20XXIV.html
cruz Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 The GSL website has the awards presentation pics up http://www.gslchampionship.org/gsl24winners/GSL%20XXIV.html Hey Bill, congrats on your big win my friend!!!
edward smith Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Seemed like such a small show, I thought it was bigger. How many models overall were there? Would like to attend one day though.
Chas SCR Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Last count I heard was about 180 cars on the tables. They was aveging 18 to 20 cars a class with 1 class was taken out because of no enterys and 2 classes had less then 8 people in them. So figur 16 adult classes at 18 to 20 cars.
RancheroSteve Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Seemed like such a small show, I thought it was bigger. I'm not sure if it's a "big" show by some standards, but the quality runs pretty deep in most classes.
RancheroSteve Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Which class was deleted? I believe that would have been the "Land Speed" class - there was only one entry.
Danno Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I believe that would have been the "Land Speed" class - there was only one entry. I see. I always thought it was redundant to other competition classes ... and a small niche, as well.
vintagedragfan Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Hey Bill, congrats on your big win my friend!!! thanks so much Mr. Cruz, really appreciate it
Art Laski Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I see. I always thought it was redundant to other competition classes ... and a small niche, as well. It was pretty good sized class at the last event, as GSL is in Salt Lake, close to Bonneville after all, but I had the only entry with a Long John Dragster this year. Since I was the only entry, and the Long John was mostly a drag car anyway (with some Land Speed History), I had the judges move it.
Modelmartin Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) Thanks for sharing the pics, Scott. It was a great show and the quality ran deep. My entry was in Motorcycles which is usually pretty sleepy. NOT this year. There were at least 4 excellent builders with multiple entries this year. I considered myself lucky to place third. By the way. I didn't see a pic of my model in amongst your 570+ photos!!! What the hey!!! See you in two years! And to all of you who say it is on their bucket list to go to GSL - You are fools! Put it on your schedule, not your bucket list. That is like saying maybe I will have a good time before I die - if I get around to it! Edited May 11, 2013 by Modelmartin
Taxdude Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Nice to see all of the pic's, maybe someday I'll make it out there.
