Curbside is OK.

Wow. I'm so glad this is not April 1st. I can't believe there will finally be an affordable kit of the F1 streetcar. That is awesome.

IIRC, Revell has made three different kits with a BMW V-12; a 750I, 850I, and the mid-engine Nazca M-12 concept car. Possible sources for a drivetrain. I would imagine that some aftermarket supplier will offer a resin/multimedia drivetrain.

Might as well wait for Aoshima's mysterious kit that starts with an "M" announcement. It's just a few hours away.

Would be great to simply use the resin engine & drivetrain from MFH's kit (if only the parts were available separately).

I know for sure Aoshima's new "Supercar/Exotic" is British.... Whether its a McLaren I don't know.... I seriously doubt they'd be kitting the F1. I have a suspicion it's either the new Jag' F-Type or Aston's M1-77....

Or they are going to do the new McLaren P1.

Well, there isn't a forum here for future releases that I've seen...and did you miss all the 'Revell 2013 new releases' threads that have been here the last few months?? Like the current thread here on the upcoming Mustang LX kit..

Hmmm, the "Real Sports Cars" series is a bit of a mixed bag. with everything from curbsides to cars with a fair amount of detail, like the recent Lambo Aventador and Ferrari F12. Looking at these pics, the door gaps seem a but big, which might indicate opening doors... hopefully there will be full engine detail. Either way I WILL be buying one of these!

On another forum, someone said they thought this pic might just be a photo of a diecast used temporarily, as opposed to a photo of a built kit.

Just received my McLaren F1 from HLJ this morning. Its got a basic 'top-half' engine, and doors that can be posed open or closed - but not hinged. I'll take some pics if anyone's interested.

I finally got round to taking some pictures in my not-so-well lit photo booth. So, I apologise in advance as these pics aren't great...

Thanks Sonny looks like small parts count. I hope you plan on building it and posting pictures here. I'd love to see it. Looks as if lots of carbon fiber decal sheets would be needed to do it justice.

To be honest - this kit will probably sit in my stash waiting for me to get round to it one day. I'm fed up with carbon fibre work (I'm still doing my Tamiya 1/12 Enzo), and I'm not that impressed with this kit. I really love the F1 and have looked forward to receiving this kit since I first heard of it, but the doors with no hinges are not a great idea. I wish the engine was a full detail one too. And the tyres with no side wall markings (as seems to be the case with all new kits!) just don't look right. It'll probably still make a nice display model, but its just not one I'm that enthused about right now.

Not sure about that... as far as I can see, the only bare carbon in the street car is the airboxes on the engine and the consoles on each side of the centre seat. The rest is covered in carpet and trim -- it's not as if the model "opens up" much! However, what I AM worried about is how very fragile that one-piece bodyshell is going to be once the "struts" are removed. I wonder how far into the build you can leave it before cutting them away...

bestest,

M.
