maysula Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Hi This kit was built by a friend many years ago, standing on a shelf since then so there was a lot of dust! Now I have tried to clean and restore it. I used decals from S27 for the Argentinian GP of -72. Painted with Tamiya spraycan recomended for this kit, replaced the smaller type of tires to the bigger ones that was used from -72. Also I added rivets, hoses, hosebands ,alurods, valves and some wireing too. The most difficult part was to paint Ceverts helmet ! Long from perfect but it will do. Thomas
jeffs396 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Excellent Thomas!!! Great detailing, neat that you put speed tape over the wheel weights! Love the old Tyrrells
lanesteele240 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I wish i had friends that give boss models away. Both of you did well. It looks awesome
curt raitz Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Nice recovery... A buddy gave me a 1/12 Tyrell 6-wheeler to finish for him going thru the box I found the same Tyrell as you rebuilt in all kinda parts, he was not aware there was a 2nd F1 model in the box built both of them...after-market decals are a blessing! returned the completed models to him at the same time, he was quite surprized again great job and it's good to see F1 models pop up on this board now and then
gjp16v Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 nice restoration/update! ... i am just getting into the hobby myself, but i've inherited a Tamiya 1:12 Lotus 49 my father built in the early 70's that i plan to restore once i'm more confident...great to see an example like this for inspiration! here's what i'll (eventually) be looking to freshen up...overall it's in decent shape for being 35-40 years old
every second counts Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Nice save ,it looks better than it did back when it was built.
Brudda Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Love this Tyrrell.looks like a hammerhead shark ,just waiting to kill something.
