jeffk Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Does anyone make a later model year front & rear conversion kit for the Lindbergh cop cars ?
Rob Hall Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 (edited) No. There are several diecast 1/24th ish '98-11 style CVs out there, but nothing in resin or styrene. AFAIK, the '98-11 body only shares the front doors w/ the '92-97 body. Edited June 3, 2013 by Rob Hall
Rick Schmidt Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 You'd need more than just a front and rear. The whole body is different. The Motor Max one in the picture is an 07 And looks pretty good I think I believe it has the wrong front bumper but other than that its ok. Even looks good alongside my 97
Foxer Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 The 92 body is different If you were wanting to do that one. It looked too much like a Taurus so was changed slightly in '93. My Dad had a '92 and I did that conversion ... wasn't too bad. It's waiting for me to fix the paint but the conversion thread is still here ..
SSNJim Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 All 92+ Crown Victorias and 2003+ Grand Marquis(es? ) share the same sheet metal from the B-pillar forward. The grille, header panel and bumpers vary from model to model. The hoods on 92-97 CVs will interchange with later models, but are shaped differently. The later models have a bulge in the middle. So for a conversion of the Lindberg CV to a later one, you will only be able to use the windshield, front doors and fenders. Everything else is different. You could use the chassis, but there were running changes made in 1998, 2003 and later years. The wheelbase and track stayed the same for all the normal wheelbase CVs.
Edsel-Dan Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Testor's offered the Classic Metal Works Diecast 98+ C-V in Kit form. I have 2 I am working on. A CHP specific kit, and a Denver/Chicago/NYPD Generic. Got 3 of those D/C/NY generic's Cheap at Toys R Us back when!! All 3 boxes ware torn/crushed on the shelf. They were even plain White!! Decals took care of all markings., and 3 different lightbars were included. Sorry, Sold/traded the 2 extra's I had LONG time ago!! We were lucky in that 3 different Diecast companys offered this body style! Welly, CMW, and Whoever did the W-M Motorworks pieces.
